After faltering in his plan to found a new ‘America Party’, the world’s richest person is returning to the GOP fold

In the aftermath of his spectacular falling out with Donald Trump last year, Elon Musk blasted the Republican Party as a corrupt force that was "bankrupting" the United States of America.

But now, after months in the political wilderness, the volatile tech baron has indicated that he will once again devote his enormous fortune to electing GOP politicians, this time ahead of the midterm elections in 2026.

"America is toast if the radical left wins," declared Musk on X Thursday. "They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud. Won’t be America anymore."

"They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud.

Just a reminder that Elon Musk is an illegal immigrant and a fraud.

[–] sausager@lemmy.world 96 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And America without immigrants wouldn't be America anymore, not the other way around.

I disagree, the Americas were ruined by illegal British, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Russian, Swedish, and Spanish immigrants.

Just a reminder that trying to buy an election is normally frowned upon in sane countries.

Everyone who's not a Nazi is "the radical left" to a Nazi.

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 34 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Billionaires spending craptons of money convincing poor people that even poorer people are their enemy is never good for the world.

If the left in the US was only a tenth as "radical" as they claim, people like Musk and his billionaire friends would have to dodge bullets wherever they go.

Dude there is no radical left in the US. There’s different flavors of right, one of them is inconvenient to con men. Thats it.

[–] OshagHennessey@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

"My ass is toast if democracy wins."

-FTFY

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 22 points 3 days ago

Dear Mr. Musk, who exactly are the "radical left" that you seem to fear so much?

[–] RaoulDuke85@piefed.social 107 points 4 days ago (3 children)

What he means is, he's toast.

[–] velindora@lemmy.cafe 49 points 4 days ago

Are any of these "radical left" in the room with us right now?

I like toast. More toast plz

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 72 points 4 days ago (3 children)

You mean HE is toast if the Democrats get the house and senate. America is toast already. You just don't want your enrichment from the corruption to end.

Elon can take his limp non working dick back to South Africa by way of El Salvador.

When billionaires are afraid, you know you’re on the correct path.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 78 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (8 children)

He can "donate" as much as he likes, with no restrictions.

It's not bribery though! See, he just has to make a Super PAC first; they don't have to disclose their source. So it won't officially be Musk dollars. wink wink

Please note that the one with the most money wins over 90% of the time in our elections.

The joke is he doesn't need to go "all in" to influence US politics.

We're surprisingly cheap with above board "donations". Let's all pretend that's all they get.

In the 70s, the FBI ran a sting, bribing government officials (congress, judge, etc). They immediately caught like 30 of them, fish in a barrel. It was called "Abscam".

Today, donations from Super PACs don't need to be explained, there is no requirement to divulge. So, they are bribed above board if the charges are "reasonable", if it's more expensive to an absurd degree, they use other means.

Let's say he had to give everyone in leadership of congress and executive and courts a MILLION DOLLARS. He'd still be unfathomably wealthy, he wouldn't even notice it's missing.

They'll sell out usually for five-six figures, or even a lucrative trading tip.

Epstein did a lot of this "lobbying". Sometimes those who need to be bought have certain secrets they wish to share.

[–] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes because your foray into politics was so fruitful before. Maybe he’ll actually destroy his career this time like he got close to last time?

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Tesla's stock creeps ever higher because the insane casino that is Wall Street hangs on his every word. "Well sure, people refuse to buy his cars," they say. "But now he says it doesn't matter." They're betting on the taxi fleet and humanoid robots taking over and fixing everything.

People should go all in on boycotting all his companies especially Tesla and Twitter.

Other countries need to cap campaign contributions if they haven't already because Musk has been known to fund the far-right globally.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 days ago

Yeah, the radical right is doing a great job running the country. Housing is affordable, groceries are at an all time low, and unemployment is actually at a net negative. They're just giving jobs away at every corner!

Fuck you, Elon. Eat shit and die. Convince your friend Trump to eat a big bowl as well.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 46 points 4 days ago

Billionaires shouldn't exist especially Nazi fuckers like musk

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago (2 children)

[–] akilou@sh.itjust.works 32 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This is what he said about the Wisconsin supreme court race

"I feel like this is one of those things that may not seem that it’s going to affect the entire destiny of humanity, but I think it will,"

Anyone have an update on the destiny of humanity since his favored candidate lost this race almost a full year ago?
