Absolutely lol 2009 was the start of recession and 2012 was like the Mayan calendar doomsday.
I'll take 1996 off your hands. I had duck hunt on NES and my parents were still married.
'96 was such a choice year. The year Pokemon came out, as well as a sick lineup of films - Trainspotting, Independence Day, Mission Impossible, Scream, Happy Gilmore, Mars Attacks!, Space Jam; the list goes on.
But '99 was The Matrix and they even told us it was peak human civilization. We were all "yeah, it's pretty good, but it's only going to get better..."
From what I remember about 2012, our greatest worry was the Mayan calendar ending and speculation that they had predicted the end of the world. What a simpler time.

Yes, but because the Internet's power was so concentrated in one place, any hacker that accessed it was granted superpowers like having code projected onto your face, being digitized into an actual computer, or global annihilation.
2001 for me please. Lord of the Rings, Spirited Away, Ocean's Eleven, the Twin Towers and the Cowboy Bebop movies!

Ahh, I see. I could not afford food in 2009. So they are probably the same.
Hard agree. There was still hope back then.
On one hand, in 2009 I had hope my life would eventually improve and I would have a chance to be happy someday.
On the other hand, I was still a teenager and stuck living with my parents. I would rather be hopeless and paying half my income in rent than live with my abusive mother again.
2009 was shit. 2011 waa good
