You think it was in your head by mistake no it was communicating you shouldn't have listened you fool.
That's going to make for a fascinating episode of an "mysterious unsolved crimes" programme one day soon.
Someone should make a heartwarming movie about a creepy doll that no one likes, but then finally someone feels sad about the poor doll and buys it, and it's all fine in the end after all.
In the end it'll spit out all the souls it devoured and everyone lives happily ever after.
