The Trump administration said Monday in a court filing that the president’s White House ballroom construction project must continue for reasons of national security.

The filing came in response to a lawsuit filed last Friday by the National Trust for Historic Preservation asking a federal judge to halt the project until it goes through multiple independent reviews and wins approval from Congress.

In its filing, the administration included a declaration from the deputy director of the U.S. Secret Service saying more work on the site of the former White House East Wing is still needed to meet the agency’s “safety and security requirements.” The administration has offered to share classified details with the judge in an in-person setting without the plaintiffs present.

Time to put on a tin foil hat.

I think they're also doing something else with the ballroom, but they're not just building a ballroom, they are building a bunker of some description.

So here's the deal:

trump considers himself the nation.

Without a ballroom, trump is insecure.

trump is insecure.

Trump is insecure nomatter what. Nothing will make him feel secure and content, hence everything can be of national security

it also have to be covered in gold foil or plating.

More like, a matter of securing bribe money for his bank account

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 44 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It's convenient how you can say anything is a matter of national security and that makes it ok.

Don't forget to add some claims about weapons of mass destruction to help the case.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 week ago

Well, they did just declare that fentanyl is a WMD.

Just like eroding every possible freedom to ‘protect’ people from terrorists and children from pedophiles. Irony is dead.

What was that conspiracy theory that they're building an underground data center and the ballroom is just a cover?

Starting to sound a little less wacky...

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or was it a Putin-esque apocalypse bunker?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Somewhere he can hide while the masses attempt to physically remove him, before he can call in the military to murder them all?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Wouldn’t be surprised if he nukes everyone.

So yes.

That's one of many things I find batshit insane about the US election process - the fact that there's a months-long period after the votes are counted and a winner declared that the losing president is STILL PRESIDENT and can just do whatever they want FOR NEARLY THREE MONTHS!

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Imagine he does run down there after losing the next election. He screams, "you can't make me leave!"

And then they just leave him there, power on, data cords cut, so he can still push the buttons that make the screens blink

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

With the amount of digging going on in the photo it certainly looks like there's more than a ballroom going in ..

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

its where he meets with putin for all his meetings.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

People theorize that they're installing extensions to the presidential bunker.

It's going to feature a dentist chair and a bunch of weird heads on the walls, isn't it?

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I'm fully of the camp that he's building a dungeon underneath it.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 week ago

With the amount of listening/recording devices that'll be fitted during construction then I'll have to agree that it will be a national security issue...

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’ve seen better ballroom in a pair of Hanes.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Bon Scott has entered the chat

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But I NEEED it! If you don't give it to me, I'll probably die! Or kill you. National security!

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

“But it’s a national security issue that we have a demolished building connected to the white house. We need to fix that. It’s not my fault it’s demolished”

Like, a major security hole?

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Well most of us might call it a glory hole …..

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Fundraising/holding bribery lineups cannot be national security, no matter how he decides in his head. That is only purpose of a ballroom: Holding such events.
