"America’s recent actions have destroyed the ability of any ally to continue to have faith in America to act even within its own strategic self-interest, let alone that of any ally.

The officer then said that even a swift return of America to its former role won’t matter. Because “we will never fucking trust you again.”

Louder, for those in the south.

Now this should be the quote of the year. America fucking blew it. It got high on its own farts and basically elected an idiot - twice - to destroy all the soft power this country built over a century. We deserve what's coming to us. America needs to be humbled by having its former allies turn its back to it the way America did with Ukraine.

Well we built that trust over 80 years of building relationships including some significant investment in trade and military power. We’ll just have to do that again

The trick is that we'd have to remain consistent and reliable across administrations. I don’t know if that’s possible anymore. Too many fascist jackasses have been allowed to have their way.

Yeah. Even with Trump administration being the pile of shit we expected, I don't see the Republican Party purging the cancer and I don't see the Democratic Party, even if renews itself, to be able to hold onto power long enough to purge the fascist menace.

It would be so fucking cool if that happened
