Vampires

"Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like vampires.
What explains our enduring fascination with vampires? Is it the overtones of sexual lust, power, control? Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead?"

Feel free to post any vampire-related content here. I'll be posting various vampire media I enjoy just as a way of kickstarting this community but don't let that stop you from posting something else. I just wanted a place to discuss vampire movies, books, games, etc.

This is an ancient meme, so there are a lot of recent vampires missing (like Abigail, the guy from Sinners, even frickin Morbius.) Not to mention some classics like the Nosferatus, or Catherine Deneuve in The Hunger. I think it's a "who's your favorite?" or "which one are you?" kinda meme but the version I saw didn't have a title. I was gonna re-do the image, but I realized there are a lot of possibilities I'm not familiar with, especially from TV and video games.

Anyway, what vampire is missing from this image? Can be from Movies / TV / Gaming / Other.

The new Interview With A Vampire tv show. The dude who plays Lestat is excellent as is the main guy.

Sinners, that new Nosfetatu movie with Lily Rose Depp. Could include that god awful fifth season of AHS where Gaga plays a vampire with Matt Bomer.

But, above all, PLEASE include Colin Robinson from What We Do In The Shadows. The most important vampire of the 21st century.

The new Lestat is one of the most perfect castings I can recall. He was born for that role.

Also, "Fucking Colin Robinson......Fucking guy."

[–] AxiomPraxis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

His French accent and pronunciation are awful though. I say that as someone who's spoken French is awful myself, but I can understand it perfectly. Everything about his performance is excellent until this ancient perfect being starts speaking his "first language" and it grates on my ears.

This is like the 3rd time I've thought I should watch What We Do in the Shadows. Whenever it comes time to pick something tho I always forget about it. I'ma have to make a list, there are a lot of good reccs in this post.

What We Do in the Shadows

One of the best imo, and impressively consistent from beginning to end

Third time’s the charm!

I've never seen this episode, but I can totally hear her voice now.

[–] ExhaleSmile@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's an older episode but it checks out

S05E05 First aired October 28th 1993 😳

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 2 points 2 months ago

Hmmm I must have watched it already then... But TBH I tended not to re-watch those Treehouse of Horror episodes.

Christof Romuald, V: tM Redemption, main protagonist.

Any of the cast from What We Do in the Shadows

Arguably Lady Dimitrescu

Cain from Legacy/Soul Reaver franchise

That's no vampire. That man has a toothpick in his mouth.

No vampire would think of such a clever disguise!

About to say that missing What We Do in the Shadows. Such a great show! I’m still working my way through it!

The girl from Let The Right One In

[–] CPMSP@midwest.social 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Really? It has to be me to say it?

SantΓ‘nico Pandemonium in From Dusk Till Dawn.

I was gonna say Cheech and Danny Trejo, but you win.

Consistency in naming the actress vs the character

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah lel there are also a couple spelling mistakes/typos. I ain't hating tho, doing memes takes effort.

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Indeed it does. Should it include anyone from What we do in the shadows?

Johnny Depp played Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows.

Viktor in Underworld played by Bill Nighy

Adam Sandler's Dracula and his daughter, Mavis, in Hotel Transylvania

I don't remember the character's name, but one of the Dark Brotherhood in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was a vampire. There was also a big vampire quest line in a Skyrim expansion

Dracula in Castlevania

Dracula in the song monster mash (as a character he also shows up in some of the other songs from that band)

Where is Blacula?

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is the only one that actually looks like a vampire:

Most others look like sexual fantasies with a hint of vampirism

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Jan Valek and Kristina from John Carpenter's Vampires.

James Woods notwithstanding, it's still one of my guilty pleasure movies.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 4 points 2 months ago

Barnabas Collins

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Salma Hayek in From Dusk Til Dawn.

Where Antonio Banderas in Interview with a Vampire?

[–] msfroh@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nicholas Cage as Dracula in Renfield

Not enough women, so Nadja from What we do in the Shadows.

Chris Sarandon in Fright Night 1985

Colin Farrell in Fright Night 2011

I don't see anyone from Supernatural

They also spelled Impaler and Twilight wrong (Twilight is spelled right the first time, wrong the second)

Not sure why they included Pam from True Blood but not Bill

If you're going to include a puppet then you might as well bring in Alucard.

Dracula from Chica Vampiro. The show is bad but I think it would be a completely unique personnality in this panel.
