Welcome to c/WouldYouRather, where we present you with the toughest, most ridiculous choices you never knew you had to make! Would you rather have a third arm that's only useful for picking your nose, or be able to talk to animals but only if they're wearing hats? Yeah, it's that kind of vibe. Come for the absurdity, stay because you've clearly got nothing better to do with your life.

That's like asking if you are below or above 20

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not necessarily. I'm in my 40s and would take the future sneezes.

One can of pepper and I could easily make up for all those sneezes and more.

I’m with you here, mid-life, 3x payout per sneeze from here forward probably works out better.

...how long do you think people live?

From here on out? Three or four decades more, max

[–] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 months ago

Ah, I swapped the numbers. Then it's above or below 60

I sneeze an average of something like 5 times a day. I cluster sneeze, and the number in the cluster rose from 3-5+ over the years, and some days are worse but its frequent enough to probably average to 5. My prior average was 1-2 a day, so even tho I’m almost 40, I’m going with the future sneezes.

$15/day is nothing to sneeze at, after all.

I'll take the past sneezes so I can get one single payment now and invest it or something, instead of $3 trickling in every now and then that I'll just spend before ever noticing I have it

over a 30 year time frame, assuming the same rate of sneezing of your part and future 30 years, you make almost 20% more by taking the past value and investing it for thirty years than investing only what you get going forward

so maybe it's worth it for people under 30 to take the future option, but not after that age. unless you game the system and cause some hell for yourself by sneezing a shitload.

Future, obviously. I can cause sneezes.

I used to have really bad non allergic rhinitis. Past sneezes please

[–] remotelove@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah, I got that going on after every run now and it gets painful. (My workout warmup is a mile jog and I work out 5 times a week.)

3 for future sneezes.

I'm going to prepare some lines of cinnamon.

Well capitalism isn't gonna be around for much longer, and I think we're all too chicken shit for me to stick around too too much longer. So...

Every time I eat dark chocolate, I sneeze. I'm not even allergic, it's got something to do with a nerve. So I'm gonna be eating that mofo forever now. 3$ for future sneezes please.
