Recently and a slightly hot take: reckless drivers/cyclists. My take is that urban planning should be pedestrian-centric so... And yes, I did specifically include cyclists too: I would prefer to be hit by a bike rather than an automobile, but I'd much rather prefer to not be hit by either

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 4 points 2 days ago

I had a girlfriend from Copenhagen, and i'm from a pretty cyclist centric city myself. But visiting there was pretty darn amazing. You just have to watch where you walk, because they have big cyclists lanes and they are pretty used to the fact that people don't walk on them

Avocado. It's like eating snot. Somebody else's snot.

Avocado is one of those things I really want to like because it's pretty good for you but I just don't know if I can get past the texture

That whole game is a travesty, between needing to be online and connected to their servers just to LOOK at your own damn cars, to the bullshit microtransactions encouraged by the psychopathic randomness when getting awards after races and shit.

And not being able to hide the big red annoying gear shift suggestion, unfixed after GT Sport had the same bullshit

GT7 could have been so good

Everything, in general.

If I could give the cosmos a good wallop I would, horribly monstrous thing that it is.

Having to scan QR codes. Fuck 'em. My doctors office can & WILL print me out a goddamn paper form to fill out.

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Having typed out long urls by hand, I appreciate the QR code.

That said, they aren't applicable everywhere, they shouldn't be used everywhere.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

It’s worse. The reason for digital is so they can steal even more data points to sell to third parties.

There’s a higher-than-normal correlation between filling out a new set of forms at a doctor and an increase in junk mail or phone calls from scammers.

I hate the folks that burned the library of Alexandria

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Which time? I mean it's sort of a time honored tradition...

Which I guess, means that burning the library of Alexandria is in itself an expression of culture.

To make yourself feel better, it is disputed whether the entire library (and with it a huge wealth of knowledge) was destroyed in one big fire or not. Instead it might have been ”destroyed” gradually over a long period of time due to lack of funding.

I didn’t start the fire.

I also choose this guy's ex wife.

Ticks. And mosquitos.... And leaches and bot flies and and that one fish that swims up your dick hole of you pee in it's river... Really, I just want anything that's trying to put something in me or take something out for any fucking reason (without my consent) to fucking stop existing please. Leave me and my sad tired flesh alone! Also cars when we could have public transit.... Scratch that, I hate capitalism and all the things that would be obviously better with it gone.

[–] Artisian@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I deeply hate the notion that hating things is cool, edgy, or more interesting than liking things.

[–] KryptoSynth@ani.social 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

you are so cool, edgy or more interesting for that.

But honestly, I think you should have (read: engage with/not ignore) things you dislike, as long as there is an equal or higher amount of things that you do like. The problems usually start when people can't regulate their emotions and start attacking others for liking/disliking something.

[–] Artisian@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I think you are right about what causes things to go bad irl, but I actually most dislike what these reactions do to media. And there I think emotional regulation would not be sufficient for better results. Disliking would need to not be engaging in the way it is.

Fucking "modernized" everything that don't really add any value and are just gimmick.

All the city streets are filled with bright LEDs and digital billboards, and it just fucking hurts my eyes, man.

Not only that, all cars and houses now also got that blueish LEDs too. I mean, for fuck sake, have you heard of warm daylight (3000k) LEDs!?!?

I hate watching a youtube video where they bleep the cursing instead of muting it. Those high-pitch bleeps hurt my ears.

According to Ozzy Man Reviews, if you don't curse within the first 8 seconds the video doesn't get demonitized.
