  1. I misread the last name pretty hard. I thought goth was talking about that kids YouTube channel. @TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website Op, fix the title!

  2. They both look great. I am aware what goth did to remind her friend she’s better than a nazi.

  3. What was goth doing on panel one?

  4. just saw the tumblr ref.
    honey pot for magpie

Trying and failing to put in an earring?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 14 points 1 month ago

I like this answer best🤝🫦

[–] Acamon@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think she has the earing on, they're just small studs and it's hidden by her hair in that panel.

But who knows, maybe she was taking one out? Maybe because she doesn't want to wear too many accessories to dinner?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 9 points 1 month ago

Schrödinger’s earrings🤭

Full-on swooning because that outfit is dope!

Psycholonials features very heavy clown imagery, including direct references to the Insane Clown Posse. This is a continuing trend in most if not all of Hussie's work, and should worry all of us.

Fuckin' magnets man.

Inb4 Hugo Boss.

Hugo Boss didn't design shit, as he wasn't a designer, and his company wasn't in fashion design until after his death. His company was one of the many manufacturers that the regime contracted for manufacturing uniforms, namely the SS uniforms designed by two dudes in SS.

However, Hugo Ferdinand Boss was a member of the Nazi party from 1931.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago (2 children)

They didn't really even design it, they stole the majority from the Massachusetts State Police.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

[–] PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As is tradition with the Nazis.

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think Himmler designed the uniform

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It was two randos from the SS: a designer and an artist. It's in Wikipedia.

Christian Dior's sister Catherine was the real legend who worked for Allied intelligence and the French Resistance

[–] jaaake@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I was unaware of this (and Coco Chanel's Nazi sympathizing) until watching The New Look on AppleTV. It wasn't that well received, but I appreciated seeing a story take place during WWII that treated the occupation of France not as the main plot, but as a setting.

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you want another look I recommend the behind the bastards episode on Coco.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Great show, and great podcast!

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago

Look up the novels of Alan Furst.

He's american, but his WW2 novels revolve around Europeans.

"Night Soldiers" is about a Bulgarian fisherman whose brother was killed by a Fascist mob. He gets recruited by the KGB and gets sent to fight in the Spanish Civil War.

And Vidal Sassoon killed Nazis with his bare hands

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wasn't he drowning them with his shampoo?

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

His technique of torturing Nazis and making shampoo out of their remains would be the basis for the whole soap thing in Fight Club.

I dunno, say what you will about fascists, they were snappy fucking dressers.

The old lot were I mean, the current batch look stupid and weird

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

To be fair, German boomer men mostly look embarrassing these days. And sadly, many of them are about as selfish and stupid as abovepictured fascist. /a German

Coco didn't have a channel. Channels weren't a thing back then.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm pretty sure the English channel existed then

Not on French maps it didn't.

This is La Manche ("The Sleeve").

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 17 points 1 month ago (2 children)

She was nor even a coconut, she was a woman.

Or maybe a cocodrilo.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are you POSITIVE she didn't just fall out of a tree?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Women can fall out of trees. Boys are generally better at climbing trees. Thats why we had treehouses. Now those treehouses are rented for $2,000 a month...

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Speaking as a former boy (current middle aged geezer), I know from personal experience that boys can fall out of trees too and that #NotAllBoys are better at climbing than girls 😁

Coco Chanel has a famous quote about how many accessories a woman should wear. The post makes it funny by implying they're going to quote that quote, but instead references her being an antisemite during WWII to remind people that much of history has been PR whitewashed for capitalistic reasons

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

There's also some timing involved in Adams release of this comic. They just came out with a TV series that is muddying the waters in regards to her activities during World War II.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

You're wearing too many accessories.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I think the point is that the kind of people who care about that kind of thing tend to be bad people with bad opinions.

It's crazy, I can't believe she said that but still went on to marry Ice-T.
