Oh dammit.

Is there anything, like, ANYTHING AT ALL that is just my personality and not ADHD?!?!?

[–] janus2@lemmy.zip 32 points 1 day ago (2 children)

raises hand please tell me liking star trek isn't an ADHD symptom

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Ahem. I too, like Star Trek.

What are your feelings on charcuterie and mechanical keyboards?

[–] janus2@lemmy.zip 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

charcuterie: love it but it's a lot more difficult now that both meat and milk hurt tummy :(

mechanical keyboards: now this one I don't get, personally. i need my peripherals to be as quiet and compact as possible for sensory filtering and portability

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

You can do quiet and compact, mechanical, believe it or not! In that case, in my opinion, it would be all about the tactile sensations.

[–] janus2@lemmy.zip 2 points 17 hours ago

i could get on board with a quiet compact mechanical keyboard. i sort of assumed they were necessarily loud and chunky lol

would love to 3D print myself a mold to make a full coverage (top and bottom) silicone rubber sleeve for it. so that when i inevitably spill something on it, it has a chance to survive

Listen here you little shit

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

If you look into ergonomic keyboards, vast majority of mechanical keyboards look like trash afterwards.

It depends...

How many rewatches?

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

… is there a wrong number? We can forgive people for discovering it late in life and not watching it enough I think.

I haven’t watched since it went to paramount+.

[–] Zidane@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Looking to watch Star Trek for the first time ever... Where do I start? Should I avoid anything?

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 3 points 20 hours ago

I like The Next Generation, I think it’s a great entry point.

The consensus is to grit through much of the first season, after which it gets good.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You start at the beginning. The original series and ‘The Next Generation’ should keep you occupied for a while. The movies are mostly bleh, maybe choose by RottenTomatoes. ‘Deep Space Nine’ and ‘Voyager’ seem to be alright, haven't watched them myself.

Also, watching ‘Red Dwarf’ after ‘TNG’ works splendidly.

DS9 is an absolute banger. Probably my favorite series.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

But season 1 of DS9 is brutal to get through.

S1 of almost every ST series is rough to get through. The only exceptions imo are, curiously, in the nuTrek sphere: SNW and LD.

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago

That's my experience in this /c/community too.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Cleaning your cup in an already immaculate kitchen is like a vacation activity. I enjoyed pottery painting too but im not going to start doing it at home.

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 6 points 14 hours ago

My wife doesn't understand why I always clean every dish/pot/utensil as soon as it's done being used, even before I sit down to eat. If I leave even just a stray fork to be cleaned later, I'll just keep stacking dirty things to be cleaned with it later until I run out of dishes, run out of room, or both.

[–] rainbowbunny@slrpnk.net 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

I know right, who would use a plastic disposable sponge instead of a reusable kitchen towel in their own home?

[–] Solely_a_Catt@programming.dev 23 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Solution that somehow worked out for me: Moving together with friends :P

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

After 5 weeks: "this place is also a mess, WTF"

[–] janus2@lemmy.zip 41 points 1 day ago (2 children)

i just moved in with a roommate who's barely ever home and I've done more cleaning in the last 2 months than I have in 5 years lol

she's not even a neat freak but my brain is like "we have to keep the apartment tidy because another human lives here." my mean fuckin brain... I'm a human too why didn't I deserve a clean apartment when I lived alone ;_;

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago

You know what you did!

~/s~

[–] Acamon@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

When I lived alone I ended up airbnbing my spare room. It was sometimes stressful, but it meant my house was constantly tidy. As soon it was just me the entire house would sink in to madness.

[–] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 3 points 18 hours ago

I lived with a friend for a month while he didn't have a place, my apartment has never before or after been so clean. I guess it's because I don't want other people see how messy I am, so I end up being not messy.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Is anyone else concerned by that faucet? I have never seen a faucet like that in my life.

[–] oftenawake@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Directly wired to mains electricity? Spicy!

[–] ThunderLegend@sh.itjust.works 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

This faucet is not electrified but we do have heated water by electricity in Brazil.. Yeah its kinda dangerous but we have more important things to worry about

[–] oftenawake@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 16 hours ago

Oh I know, just having fun with the optical illusion. :-)

[–] ThunderLegend@sh.itjust.works 2 points 19 hours ago

This is a very common faucet in Brazil.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Even the expression. That resting bitch face, that says "I'm so good with the dishes, i even enjoy doing it"

At home i stare at the dishes far too long and it's painful doing them.

[–] smh@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 day ago

It's novel on someone else's home.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's obviously cleaning the water in this picture.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh I missed the sponge.

I thought this was one of "only poor people drink from the tap" memes.

Rich people drink fridge, or bottled water.

it tends to be the opposite, doesn't it though? poor people are more likely to live in places where tap water isn't good for drinking so they buy bottled

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

What, washing a glass by hand?
