Costs money to rip and replace existing infrastructure. Counties and cities with less income can’t afford to make such drastic changes unless it’s a higher priority than the other 25 things that need funding

For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t be in 3rd gear at 20mph in a modern turbocharged car.

For my car, 20mph is roughly 2500pm in 2nd and 1700rpm in 3rd. I don’t like to live below 2000rpm because I don’t get spooled up that low.

I get around this by being unable to read my own writing

Agree. TSA could be doing more meaningful work for the amount spent

These calls aren’t necessarily rare, but they aren’t routine if that makes sense.

Avoiding miscommunications and de-escalating tensions is the entire point of these lines.

I remember reading a story about US military leadership contemplating striking a target in Syria a while back. Russians (mercenaries or regular armed forces) were suspected to be operating in the area, but their generals denied presence on this emergency line, so the US bombed away. Russians ended up among the dead, but their leadership denied sponsorship, so this wasn’t necessarily a “US targets and bombs Russians” event which could lead to general warfare.

I didn’t know either. Such a strange and unusual show - I haven’t seen anything quite like it.

Aluminum with a thin plastic liner. Only glass gets away without any use of plastics, and even they maybe not, as I haven’t seen any bottle caps without some sort of lining lately

Some TVs may project fake static.

Just because OTA broadcasts are digital doesn’t mean you are stuck with all or nothing. You can definitely have poor signal and see or hear something other than what was intended. Doesn’t manifest as analog static, but depending on your decoding and error correction schemes, you can have cut audio, frozen frames, iframe inconsistencies, and stuttering.

Sunny has taught me that everything works out if you’re a main character.

Sucks that being anything other than straight is a health risk for large segments of the population.

That being said, enabling or fostering that same risk isn’t in their best interest. If they’re unable to be the change they want to see in the world, then who do they expect to stand up for them?

That’s right, it goes in the square hole

Here's a small update to my bento box building log.

This is a small air scrubber meant to cut down on some of the VOCs that come with melting plastics such as ABS.

I've printed all of the bits in ABS and they fit together well. Now I need to order some fans, filters, carbon pellets, magnets, and fasteners to get everything situated.

I got a P1S for my family as an early Christmas present. I'm interested in creating parts that may eventually be used in cars, so I'm trying to get things ready for full-time ABS and ASA production.

This is my 4th print using ABS. First time was an okay benchy which needed some flow calibration and displayed some slight bowing at the base. Second time was a good benchy which seemed dialed in. Third print was an articulated Onyx Pokemon which seemed great.

I've printed the main body for the bento box in 3DF transparent black ABS.

Some of my tweaked settings for success were:

  • Blanket over the printer. This is in my garage and temperatures dip. The blanket helped with the warping.
  • Setting the bed temp to 100C and setting the level to around 40mm down from the top with the chamber fan at 30%. Did this for around 15 minutes to get everything inside up to temperature.
  • Nozzle temp first layer of 260C
  • Nozzle temp other layers of 270C
  • Bed temp constant 100C

I plan on printing the other components and sourcing the parts spread out across December, so I'll post updates!
