Yo dawg I herd you like heart failure with your meals so we put some de-motivation in your snausage and we put some hi-cal butter in your pots and some Immodium in your kraut.

Based on how burnt that sausage looks, I believe you when you say it had been smoking.

It definitely cooked a bit more than I wanted. My regular skillet was busy so I cooked this on cast iron and it got a bit hotter than expected. But smoked sausage likes to have a little char on it.

Don’t listen to them: this is like bacon, best a little crispy! Perfectly done, just the way I like it.

What’s the meme again? “Yo dawg, you want some carcinogens to go with your carcinogens?”

Proper cooking technique is more expensive.

Sauer Kraut = 5 bucks ish. Maybe 1 buck per person.

2 sausages = maybe 2 bucks? Depends on the sausage.

Mashed potatoes = maybe 1 buck after you add in milk and butter per person.

You must have really small people for it to be $2 per person.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

You buy the 2lb bag of kraut for $2.97 and only use half of it. You buy 2 pound Star's brand smoked sausage for $5.62 and use about a third of it. Potatoes were $2.48 for 5lb. I used about 1.5 pounds. Plus three tablespoons butter and a third of a cup of milk.

Feeding two people ((2.97/2)+(5.63/3)+(2.48/5*1.5)/2=$2.02 Add maybe 40 cents for milk and butter so I was off by maybe 22¢ per person for more than two pounds of food per person. I'm 6’2” so definitely not really small.
