I absolutely love that they included a wider shot in the article that most people probably scrolled past, but I caught this in it:

[–] MeThisGuy@feddit.nl 7 points 1 week ago

well he's not kneeling

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 63 points 1 week ago

This should be its own post

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago

"He says I'm number one!"

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 76 points 1 week ago (6 children)

[off topic?]

For those who didn't know, Donald previously screwed up an entire football league by trying to overleverage.

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 45 points 1 week ago

He did that after trying to buy an NFL team but getting denied by at every attempt by NFL management.

[–] angstylittlecatboy@reddthat.com 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is why my dad hated Trump before he was in politics

[–] Vertelleus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

My old man said the same thing. He also killed the USFL. A Spring (American) football league he pushed to play in the Fall to compete with the NFL, which led to its downfall.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Yup.

Americans would have year round professional football if it wasn't for Donald Trump.

It's sort of amusing that the profound psychological issues that make him the most corrupt POTUS in history, the most self-absorbed POTUS in history, the most dishonest POTUS in history and the most deranged POTUS in history also make him the most tone-deaf POTUS in history.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 12 points 1 week ago (3 children)

We better hurry up and do something about it because history is written by the winners

[–] WatDabney@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (11 children)

History is only written by the winners when the winners benefit their civilization.

When, as has consistently happened in the latter days of past civilizations and as will be the case if Trump and the oligarchs and their fascist tools win, the winners solely benefit themselves and thus ultimately destroy their civilization, history is written by third parties.

At least I know he is always fucking miserable that he doesn't have more. (More money, more popularity, more praise)

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 48 points 1 week ago

If the Federal Government is shutdown all of the secret service agents should be sent home. I bet Mike Johnson would end the shutdown really quickly if he and trump couldn’t party while everyone else is struggling to feed their kids

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 43 points 1 week ago (9 children)

Was at a bar watching NFL with the bros when they kept showing his fucking face.

We tried to ignore it at first but they just kept showing it.

We started loudly booing. At one point I shouted "WHY AM I BEING FORCED TO STARE AT A FELON RAPIST JUST TO WATCH FOOTBALL?"

This bar is in California, but I guarantee some conservatives were there. Too bad. They're filth and are putting felons and rapists on television during football games. I don't give a fuck if it hurts their feeling for me to say this shit in a public space. Decorum goes out the window when you're forcing sports fans to sit and listen to a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and insurrectionist.

The NFL is getting pretty fucking gross. Just in the last few weeks they've put a felon rapist on the air, one of their ex-quarterbacks stabbed an old man, and a new player ran from the cops and then blew his brains out.

The fuck is going on with that organization?

[–] Sculptor9157@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago

I feel like the problems you listed with the NFL have always been there, you may have just glazed over them since it only involved the organization and players\coaches and not a president.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You can destroy my country, subjugate it's people, but don't you dare mess with my football!

The fuck is going on with that organization?

My two-cents on the matter: The NFL's relationship with problematic decisions and/or optics, have been a thing for a long time now.

  • Military flyovers^1^
  • Strictly IMO: player "draft" process resembles an auction
  • Predominantly black player base with white team ownership
  • "Redskins" as a team name for far longer than the public felt it acceptable
  • Entire league suffering from concussions^2^, life-altering injuries after retirement
  • History of team owners doing all kinds of problematic stuff, but keeping their jobs regardless

  1. My problem here is that we're talking commercial sports, an institution one could feasibly use as a refuge from politics. But we add rah-rah military back in, opening the door for nationalism, because screw all that.
  2. There are lawsuits out regarding a possible cover-up (going back a long time) by the league in this area, as highlighted in recent news.

I really hope it hurts him

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can't feel shame if you're shameless and have mid-stage brain rot!

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 7 points 1 week ago

Mid stage? His level is fucking terminal!

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Knowing him, he will say "people were cheering for me, they love me!".

I can't find a longer video than what's in the article. It's pretty harsh. I had to check since sometimes it's not as bad as they say. What is he reading?

Edit: I had to do the thing, it's in the article:

The jeers came down even harder when Trump, flanked by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, read out the military Oath of Enlistment to swear in new troops.

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 week ago

Bonespurs' tongue should have burst into flames, him reading that oath to others is... rich.

God I need to stop reading news these days.

I wish he didn’t infect the NFL with his grubby child loving grip.

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 week ago

Come on now, he doesn't only have sex with the grubby ones.

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Is there a word for that gesture that he keeps making with his fist there? I feel like he thinks it's a flex but just outs him as a dictator.

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (4 children)
[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

There it is. And it's as bad as I thought.

[–] cheers_queers@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

No that's when he falls asleep on camera and then goes up by standing awkwardly as people pass out next to him. xD

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The majority of American citizens did not vote for him. The majority of citizens were busy. I'm pretty sure about 85 million Americans didn't vote. The majority is silent.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

So... 85 million Americans need to experience pain before they realize sitting out the election is a bad idea. Not bad, they're getting there...

His dementia is really hammering home the fucking degenerate state his mind is in. Why would they name the stadium after him?

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because if they don't he'll sue them for being very unfair, and then he'll get the stadium named after him and a $300 million dollar cheque. He owns the judicial branch and unlike every other president before him he is willing to use it as a tool for his petty revenge. Turns out that every other president actually believed in a higher power then themselves, be it God or country. Donald doesn't believe in anything.
