Even worse when this happens in the middle of a work meeting.

This is why I have fidget toys on my work desk, to keep me focused on the boring shit someone is rambling about in a Teams meeting.

Maybe I need to try that, I zone out pretty quickly

My spouse always thinks about his software projects and current problems/challenges he's facing in these projects. I once realized that as soon as he starts to say one thing that doesn't fit the conversation, I lost him and there's no coming back for the time being.
This usually happens at least once a day and he's actually sorry but he can't help it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for understanding, this happens when I speak to any of my closest friends, I just go off on something for like an hour and then realise and feel guilty afterwards

Thinking about Animal Crossing New Horizons while trying to listen to husband talk about Dwarf Fortress.

Sometimes I am worried I gave him a full time job by showing him that game!

Stardew Valley mods.

I’ve got upwards of 300 and still crave more for fine-tune tweaking. I’m still sad about the headphones mod being discontinued, though.

Years ago I would download mods for The Sims 2 from modthesims site. Then I found out about all the other blogs with high quality content. I ended up so obsessed that I stopped playing the game and was just adding more and more mods. That's why I played Stardew on the Switch instead of the PC. I would just obsess about mods and neglect actually playing the game 😅

Not something that really came up unnaturally in conversation, but after having obtained a Japanese Dreamcast copy of Sonic Adventure ( probably the only time I'll ever buy a foreign game that has to be imported ), I got into a conversation about Dreamcast with my mother. Ended up telling her about how if the battery wasn't dead on my VMU that I could do the weird Chao tamagachi thing... which lead to me saying how I figured out some person in Greece apparently made a VMU2 that has a lot of cool upgrades that I would absolutely go on a pre-order list for if it weren't for the economy in general in the USA.
