"When you were a baby, Mommy was ripping out people's spines while breastfeeding you."

"...I can respect that."

"You'd better, honey."

The husband was one of her victims in the tournament too, so everyone in the house should be wary of crossing her.

It looks like she was playing in these events all throughout her pregancy, including a win at 7 months.

"I'm still recovering from a brutal c-section that almost resulted in a rupture (but went well because my surgeons are goated). Glad that I left the house and it gave us a small idea of how to gauge bringing our daughter to tournaments and travel. She was actually chill."

Feels like every "make me a sandwich" asshole [G]amer on earth just got humbled.

I know it's "just a local" but as someone with a history in (very technical & skill-based) competitive gaming during my youth: mad respect

When the baby is that small, it's the perfect time to do stuff like this. You have to be "on call" if they need you, but they spend 90% of the time sleeping. So just hold them or have them strapped to you and do your thing!

I got caught up on so many shows during the first few days when my daughter was still nocturnal, and I know my wife beat a few games she had on the back burner.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@piefed.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

Same. I played FPS games and caught up on my streaming backlog while my first slept on me. I didn't imagine that I'd be able to do stuff like that.

I finished Netflix during night feeds for the first 6 months of my son's life.

[–] TwentySeven@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

You finished Netflix? Impressive.

Credit where credit's due, but it seems like great pains have been taken to hide the fact that this was a tournament of 4 players.

Looks like she also had a 1st place finish in this tournament, which had over triple the entrants (14), and she did it while 7 months pregnant—that's much more impressive, imo.

[–] sausager@lemmy.world 43 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

As someone who is sitting next to his newborn who he just brought home yesterday - the fact she did literally anything besides sleep is much more impressive

Edit: grammar. I'm so tired

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@piefed.world 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Huge congrats! Hang in there - everything gets easier soon.

[–] RustySharp@programming.dev 15 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

soon

Could you please be more specific? It's been 13 years. Maybe in another year?

[–] ook@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 3 weeks ago

Yes. Another year. Or another life. I keep mixing up these terms.

Next week for sure.

That's kind of the total opposite of the typical "Florida man" scenario.

[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

Because Florida Man is such a shambles Florida Woman must shine extra brightly

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

It was a 4-person tournament, what kind of prize pool do you think that's going to have? lol

[–] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 17 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Florida...uh...Florida's not doing so well

[–] GargleBlaster@feddit.org 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And that's with a $50 entering fee

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 3 points 3 weeks ago

So whoever put on the contest made ~~$50 * 4 = 200 - 28~~ $172‽

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago

The player worked her way through a four-person bracket ...

So, she beat.. 2 people?

Still.. Noyce.

Ended every match with a Babality.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Of course she won; she had a literal second set of hands to help her. It's the same reason that Goro is the best character in MK. I obviously never win when I play as Goro, but that's because everyone else is cheaters.

These games always seem like random button mashing, ftw to me. Unfair advantage to be 2 player :P
