Look, I'm one of those ADHD folks who are pretty successful in their career despite all the mental issues.

Let me tell you, it still kinda sucks. Every day is a struggle. Even though it always works out in the end for me, the process is the punishment.

Well said. As a fellow functional dysfunctional I feel the same. Everyone keeps telling me it couldn't be that bad since I am so successful, on the other hand a neurologist recently told me she's surprised I could work at all due to my "crippling" (her words) ADHD.

I'm in academia, so being a little quirky is almost the norm. But whenever I meet new people, and they get to know me, this is exactly their reaction lol.

It's a no-brainer, really. You just need to leverage the paradigm shifting synergies effectively to create a win-win situation. It's not rocket science.

Anyhow, let's touch base next week. Keep me in the loop!

Capitalism wants you to feel bad about yourself

And then sell you the cure.

Lol, assholes who aren't even conscious.

Seems like the dude is trying to help with what he knows. Just because it doesn't work doesn't make him an asshole.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago

Yea, the "im just trying to help" line is bs.

They aren't trying to actually help, they are stroking their own egos by giving someone else advice on something they know absolutely nothing about. That's why if you tell them the advice isn't useful, they get angry at you for disagreeing. Because they don't actually care about the advice being helpful, they care about you listening to them and making them feel like they did something.

He just wonders why we do not eat delicious cake.

My favorite was the boss who told me that I just had to put myself out there. This after blaming me for not being at a meeting which no one had told me about. So, I guess if you're being kept out of the loop on important work stuff, it's your own fault because you have a bad attitude.

Any incremental improvement is worth it, IMO. Think of it like the flip side of the swiss cheese security model.

My intentional mindset and positive thinking don't make my ADHD go away. But maybe they give me that last bit of motivation to get out of bed one day, or they flip the script and remind me that whatever activity my family wants to do with me this evening is way more important than that spare bedroom I finally started cleaning after several years.

When it comes to mental health and enjoying existence, never stop giving yourself the best chance you can.

But we do have the ability to see through their bullshit …still depressing though

The system doesn’t view you at all. It’s just a jungle out there. Hang on to people you’re close to. Try to grab what you can and survive. I’m rooting for you!
