Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Or a general stroke. In Trump's brain. Whichever we get first.

At least, he doesn't have the majority of the cult behind him.

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It’s not the cult that matters it’s the wealthy people running the show. All you’d do is replace chaos with evil.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

The cult absolutely matters. The reason half of Congressional Republicans go along with this shit is they're afraid of their violent supporters turning on them. And they know dementia Donny has a tendency to direct their ire at whoever disagrees with him.

Once that cult splinters, that threat diminishes. The die hard racists hate Vance because of his wife and children, everyone else hates him because he's a spineless charisma vacuum. There's only so much corporate media can do to manufacture clips that make someone look not ridiculous to even the intended audience.

I don't think we can know that really. I think Vance is fake as hell. He used to say a bunch of things publicly that he no longer claims to believe.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Vance has sold into the grift, but it was only 6 years ago when he was denouncing Trump.

So what does this mean?

I personally hope it means he would prefer the style of conservative we saw last decade. Evil, but with a preference for stability. A stability designed to benefit the wealthy, but still stable.

I'd rather take 1 step back from the cliff than to plunge all the way off it. Still too close for comfort though.

These are more my hopes, he could in fact be much much worse. The neat part is it's statically likely we'll get to know in the next 4 years

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

Maybe not directly, but the schadenfreude will be the most delicious thing to happen since the end of 2016.

Yes, this.

But it's easy to steer a population that lives paycheck to paycheck, without unions.

He's been threatening one since the beginning.

[–] Tonava@sopuli.xyz 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah didn't he straight up say that if he wins the election, you don't have to vote ever again? What did people think that means other than these wannabe-nazis usurping your country?

If he wants to be president forever than he will have to be immune to death.

I saw this video on the Internet where they had peoples heads on jars over a thousand years after they lived, and they were fully functional and able to talk and everything.

Even President Nixon's head. And he got elected to another term because he had no body and that was a loophole to the 22nd amendment.

So I guess the first thing we need to do is cut off Trump's head and put it in a jar. It worked in that video.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 27 points 1 month ago

By “video on the internet”, you meant a classic episode of Futurama

The wiki has no entry for Donald Trump's head. Looks like it wasn't preserved.

I'll never forgive Biden for not dealing with this when he had the chance.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yes, republicans had nothing to do with it. /s

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

That's not what they said.

Democrats did nothing at all to stop him after he attempted to overthrow government the first time. They just celebrated and said "that was a close one", but did nothing effective at all to hold him accountable or to undo most of his damage. Project 2025 was public knowledge, and all they did was use that as a threat to the American people, "vote for us or you get that".

Even Hitler was thrown in jail before coming back to power.

Autocrats & dick taters usually tell us what they want. We should listen.

I already knew it in 2017, when both Mary Trump and Tony Schwartz said "He won't go willingly", but whoever didn't get the memo after Jan 6, 2021 should get their brains examined.

They are setting up to manipulate the elections. Buying up media, taking over the campaign distribution systems, and possibly the voting systems, but I'm not really worried as much that he is going to try to stay after his 4 years. His brain is gone. If 1 conversation with say Zelensky or Putin makes him flip flop on what he is doing, he isn't making any decisions for himself anymore. Whoever the heritage foundation or whomever has made sure they have his ear will get whomever they want in office next.

[–] Vupware@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Trump is just the useful idiot puppet of a decades-old intelligent, honed, and nefarious organization; he’s nothing more than a diversion. People need to fixate less on him and more on the people pulling his strings.

If the elections are rigged (they will be), some other fascist will come in and pick up where Trump left off. It’s already over.

The root needs to be extracted for the weed to stop growing.

[–] xenomor@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

He needs to be hung upside down in DuPont Circle.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It doesn't matter that you just made a first down if there's only 6 seconds left on the clock.

[–] running_ragged@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Unless you use that 6 seconds to work with the ref to rewrite the rules of the game such that passing the ball to a second quarterback resets the time, along with a bunch of other rule changes.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Even oligarchs and dictators can't rewrite the rule of death.

[–] running_ragged@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The problems the US faces don’t die with him.

[–] moobythegoldensock@infosec.pub 14 points 1 month ago

That video’s about how long it’ll take him to release the Epstein files.

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 10 points 1 month ago

At this rate 4 years is gonna seem like an eternity so he's right in a way.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I feel like I am taking crazy pills but he has posted a video similar if not the exact same before or mutiple times before. Like he has been saying since before the 2020 election he was "entitled" to a third term.

[–] Vupware@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

He literally has “Trump 2028” hats in his White House.

He commended Elon for “knowing those voting machines better than anyone” right after the vote was counted.

There is nothing left for them to do in order to secure a 2028 “win”, is there? It’s not like the bootlickers in the military will do anything to stop him; they’ve bombed Venezuelans and genocided Palestinians and suppressed peaceful domestic protest at the whims of this administration… and we’re not even a year in yet.

Hey there, Northern neighbor. Sure would be a shame if our problems escalated into your problems, too.

Edit: but also, what do you expect us to do? We're holding the biggest protests in history right now. What more should we be doing? Having a civil war?
