Men 18-40 spouting racist, bigoted, and antisemitic things are "young boys".

However, when it's girls, minors, that are sexually assaulted, they are "young women."

That really is quite the uncomfortable double standard.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 91 points 1 month ago

Until they get older and get a job where they need to be taken seriously. Then they'll transition to girls again.

[–] Makeitstop@lemmy.world 34 points 1 month ago

Sort of like how RFK Jr could just dismiss sexual assault allegations from when he was in his mid 40s as being part of being a "very rambunctious youth."

[–] Seasm0ke@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago

These absolute garbage individuals literally called rape epic, the double standard is coming from them and the people in their party who excuse it, and then the media normalizes it.

Men 18-40 spouting racist, bigoted, and antisemitic things

Is evolution working as intended...

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3029708/

The same neurotransmitter (oxytocin) that causes love, humans to group up, and not be repulsed by incredibly disgusting kids...

Causes (especially for straight men) an intense hatred for literally anyone who you weren't socialized as a toddler around because they ain't "us". They're "them" or an out-group.

That's why the right goes so hard against diversity in media, why they lost their shit over Drag story hour.

Because humans are animals, and if we're not properly socialized as children, shit goes all Lord of the Flies, every time. You want a generation of racist white guys who hate anyone that ain't straight? You need to shield them completely from everything that's not that during their formative years, and that's what the right has been doing.

Everyone wants to pretend they pick random shit, but the people driving it are obscenely wealthy, and even if they're not smart enough to figure out the psychology, they'll pay someone to do it.

And for decades neoliberals played I to it, because they're paid by the same wealthy people to keep everyone divided.

We gave up on the kids, and it's gonna be impossible to win the lost ones back. We can still teach them critical thinking, but in 40 years when they're 60, they're gonna be a new maga. Just from how the normal aging process works. As we lose mental ability, we fall back on ingroup/outgroup.

Gen alpha is a boomer timebomb waiting to happen...

Gen alpha is a boomer timebomb waiting to happen…

It might be even much worse if the algorithms are allowed to continue unabated and people do less and less civic-minded things, in person. I think part of the thesis of "Bowling for Columbine" is that starting some time ago, lots and lots of people doing things within their community as groups, in-person has had a steep drop-off.

I think I remember Masons talking about how boomers were almost missing from many of their lodges. Not sure of the reason for that, but due to things like Dan Brown, there was an uptick among Gen X joining up. I still think it's probably way down for community groups of all kinds, generation after generation.

At least boomers are the ones still showing up to many in-person things. I don't know what the civic engagement is for Gen X and younger...also, the boomers had a lot of fantastic ideas, some of the first to really go mainstream was with their generation. I think many of them were some of the first to be socialized in the broader sense, too. It's just that Ronnie Raygunism came along and started building things like Faux and hate radio to capture that demo in particular...but I'm not fooled by the common trope of the boomer stereotype we keep seeing and blaming it all on them. I think that's overlooking a lot by using a convenient scapegoat, especially now that most of the Silent Generation is disappearing, and nearly all (?) of the Greatest Generation is gone.

[–] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is why I believe that building up community spaces is truly the way forward.

Mutual aid is the foundation of society, but we Americans have let that part of our culture deteriorate and instead promoted the "self-made individual" as the heroic ideal.

Although it doesn't seem vital, promoting pro-social spaces is critical to getting people to engage with their community and expand the "tribe" to include more degrees of separation.

==Headline 1941 Germany== "Nazi Leadership jumps to defend Hitler youth beating on Jews and homosexuals!"

[–] Zier@fedia.io 67 points 1 month ago

These nazis are so gross. I saw a "In memorial" billboard with nasty charlie kirk on it today. Disgusting! Where were all the billboards for the children gunned down in school? Nowhere, because the GOP are nothing but immoral hypocrites.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 64 points 1 month ago (5 children)

"Kids do stupid things," he continued. "Especially young boys. They tell edgy, offensive jokes. That's what kids do."

I was a young, stupid, conservative boy. Most of my jokes were Strong Bad related. I didn't at any time glorify Hitler.

These kids need an intervention, not apologia.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 1 month ago (7 children)

Exactly this. I grew up conservative and no, we didn't joke about Hitler or the Holocaust.

[–] theherk@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I did. I said all sorts of offensive shit with varying degrees of understanding how offensive. HOWEVER, that does not mean I didn’t expect and face accountability for my actions. That’s part of it. That’s how dumb young men grow into sane, understanding, and well adjusted people. We fuck up, we learn, we improve.

[–] KatakiY@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah I said all sorts of shit I never believed. Felt like none of it mattered and racism wasn't real etc etc because I was a dumb privileged kid. Once I talked to people different than me and thought for like forty seconds I realized how stupid I was and how I'd been getting sucked down a right wing rabbit hole.

None of it excuses my actions and these dumb young Republicans are actively trying to enforce their racist beliefs.

My teenage friends and I were edgy to well past the point of being vile. The only one of us making "Hitler was right" jokes was a Jew who was complaining about his parents and we always told him to shut the fuck up.

Obligation statement that Nazis are bad and indoctrinated with hate. Not exactly shocking.

Vance is such a question mark in all this. He’s clearly being groomed to be Trump 2.0. He’ll have the full force of billionaires, Silicon Valley, and old media behind him to make him look legitimate. I just don’t know if the Trump people will bite.

The cult is built around the Fuhrer. His probably imminent death is occurring at a difficult time. There is no clear successor. If Trump himself named one a long time ago, it’s probably Ivanka. These days, who knows what he promised. Hegseth who could have prevented 9/11 with him? He’s lost it

Vance is going to make his move, but will MAGA go with him? He doesn’t have Trump’s charisma, not even close. We have a turnkey fascist state in the making that is about to lose its leader. Also interesting to note is that if Vance is disqualified in any way, the Speaker becomes president.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 24 points 1 month ago

I'm honestly not sure it matters to MAGA. Trump was critical in teaching Republicans a lesson: be ruthless and nasty, the base LOVES it. They love Trump because he's unabashedly horrible to anyone and everyone and he allows them to be hateful too. As long as Vance or anyone seeking the (soon to be literal) throne follows that lesson then the base will follow them.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (4 children)

just thankful stephen miller has the charisma of nosferatu because that guy is dedicated to evil where trump just bumbles from evil to evil guided by his narcissism and donors.

Man, the Vance's of this administration disgust me the most. He's not indoctrinated, or at least he wasn't. He's the quintessential opportunistic asshole.

... Shit, I'm going to say heir apparent

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

No, he was groomed for this by Peter Thiel who has a vested interest in out-doing Elon Musk. Why else do you think Musk was so heavily involved? There is a lover's quarrel over who can ruin the US.

The speaker will not become president unless Vance and Trump become incapacitated at the same time. When just Trump becomes incapacitated, they can choose a new vice president.

Young Republicans were a group of fat fuck incels like JD Vance, who call themselves alphas. No wonder he's supporting them.

I continue to believe that Vance is literally a Nazi. I don’t mean ‘Nazi’ as shorthand for a racist right wing shitbag, or even just a run of the mill fascist. He is those things too. But, I mean an actual, sieg heil-ing, has a swastika flag in his basement, occasionally dresses in the brown shirt, arm band wearing Nazi.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I truly believe that most Republicans are, only instead of hating the Jews, they are supporting Israel's genocide. They also hate the Jews, but not the ones that kill children indiscriminately, just the ones in Hollywood. You don't get to support the decisions made by this admin and not be a Nazi. I just hope that in my lifetime, hopefully within the next 10 years, I get to see a modern day equivalent to the Nuremberg trials. I have zero faith that will happen, but it's what keeps me going.

“Focus on the real issues,” he said. “Don’t focus on what kids say in group chats.” He then suggested that whoever leaked the racist messages is a “scumbag.”

“Kids do stupid things,” he continued. “Especially young boys. They tell edgy, offensive jokes. That’s what kids do.”

I knew it! Did he quote those harmless jokes? Yeah, I didn't think so.

It also bears noting that while “Young Republicans” may sound like a group composed of baby-fresh, underdeveloped prefrontal cortexes, the national organization accepts members of the Republican Party between the ages of 18 and 40.

But this is much worse imo:

Vance (..) downplayed the texts by comparing them to a leaked message from Jay Jones, the Democratic nominee for Virginia attorney general. Jones has come under fire this month after 2022 text messages in which he expressed a desire to shoot the former Virginia House speaker were made public.

“This is far worse than anything said in a college group chat, and the guy who said it could become the AG of Virginia. I refuse to join the pearl clutching when powerful people call for political violence,” Vance wrote Tuesday on social media. Jones has, in fact, been condemned by members of his own party. Jones is also one man, making condemnable statements, not a large group of politically minded individuals producing, sharing, and celebrating the very hate they claim to revile.

Exactly. Demeaning and violent slurs against big parts of the population, even calling for their extermination, is on a whole different level to one person saying they want one other person dead. It's no comparison, but it's clever propaganda.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

focus on the real issues

Oh you mean like the fact that the upcoming new generation of YOUR PARTY is openly praising Hitler?

Seems like a pretty real issue to me.

JD once said Trump is America's Hitler; I always assumed he had changed his mind, but maybe he still believes it and the only difference is that JD now considers Hitler to be a model to follow.

MAGA logic…38 year old men “kids” . Twelve year old girls who were sexually assaulted “adults who should be punished with a baby”

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (9 children)

These were NOT "kids". They were adults up to 40 years old. Most men have grown up around 25 years of age. These privileged cunts are well past the point of learning anything new, and maga doesn't do learning anyway, so they are typical, fat ass racist republicans now, all grown up.

These obese dumbasses, did this on record, and never had the thought that maybe, just maybe, recording their racism might be a bad idea.

These obese dumbasses all have political leadership aspirations, and guaranteed at least a couple will use the "growing up" excuse during their Senatorial confirmations, one day. If that was today, they'd be shoo ins for SCrOTUS or Cabinet positions. In the future, when their fat turns come around? Let's hope by then that the worm has turned, and fetid republican racism will no longer be acceptable, and these cunts get shown the door.

They deserve to have their futures fucked by their present. Racist, obese cunts, whose genetics are a curse on humanity. Fuck them, and all republicans. With a cactus. No lube!

30-40 year old reject beasts trying to angle skin color as their claim to supremacy

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

I've heard what they say a thousand times usually after some drunk rapes a woman or he kills people driving recklessly. "He is a fine young man at the start of his life. You have no right to punish him for the rest of his life" That is a quote about a drunk asshole farmers son who crashed his pickup and left the scene with his dying date still trapped in the truck. This was before cell phones were common. She died and he walked away with no punishment.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 month ago
