To be fair: it's all the Republicans casting the deciding vote. She doesn't have any special powers that makes her vote count more than the rest. The difference is that she's occasionally not-shitty and so she gets a lot of attention as a maybe.

Like: Rick Scott also cast these deciding votes, but everyone already expected that he'd be a shit so he doesn't get any flak for it.

Her vote as a US Senator counts more. That is exactly how representational government works ~~you doof~~ sorry.

[–] Mniot@programming.dev 17 points 2 months ago

In what way, exactly, does her vote as a US senator count more than another US senator's vote?

Feel free to use simple language if you feel I need it.

I’m going to start editing my rude comments like this because it’s hilarious and I’m here for it.

[–] StinkyOnions@lemmy.world 74 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Because she's okay with child diddlers.

[–] defaultusername@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

Only if they either have over $1 billion in wealth or if they have an R next to their name.

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 61 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Look at her. Does she look like a person at peace with herself and the world?

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

I hope she is never at peace for the rest of her days, which I also hope are few.

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

She looks like a necromancer.

[–] defaultusername@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 months ago

Or a victim of necromancy.

Nah, they got kompromat on her. Bribery will get you some baubles but it's too voluntary and you can always get outbid. You gotta get coercive if you really want to own someone's soul.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 2 months ago

According to the CIA, kompromat is also a less ideal way to influence someone because they eventually get exhausted and conclude the consequences are less painful than the control, and defect.

The most reliable way is to make them a true believer.

That's why Kirk's death is so gutting to the right: He was an excellent propagandist who specialized in influencing impressionable people.

[–] Lukaro@piefed.zip 18 points 2 months ago

Um she is a republican what else would you expect her to do?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

Because there's no accountability.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 months ago

Being a "moderate" is just an act for her constituents.

If they say that bill might not pass, because Murkowski and Collins are likely to vote against ot, then i you can be certain that the bill will pass with a single vote, and the one who vote against it will be the one that has election sooner.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Her deal is that she's a Republican, which means she's a traitor to the United States of America.

[–] rockettaco37@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Let's stop calling them Republicans and start calling them Nazis. It's more accurate.

[–] CascadianGiraffe@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm starting to feel that the comparison is unfair to the Nazis.

[–] rockettaco37@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

There’s a comparison I never thought would make sense, but here we are...

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hopefully she will get Kirked.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

This lady looks like ET never got to phone home and is pissed off about it and decided to don a crappy disguise and get into politics.

It's all about her ego and personal wealth/power. Her constituents are a means to those ends. She cares not for people she represents

[–] Ging@anarchist.nexus 7 points 2 months ago

Gerontocracy functioning exactly as intended

[–] lack@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

She's cosplaying a moderate while sucking that federal teet something fierce. Since Alaska relies so heavily on federal funding, and that funding is at the whim of whatever geriatric rich white fuck is currently inhabiting the oval office, Alaska senators probably have to placate them more than other senators. I think its chicken shit, and I think that Murkowski specifically is chicken shit for the damage she's causing to the country all so Alaska can keep collecting those big federal checks.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 5 points 2 months ago

Because they never cared about ordinary people. They serve a handful of figures at the absolute top and their main value is the ability to manipulate the masses.

[–] GroundedGator@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Politician should not be a career choice, it should be a limited service to your fellow citizens and you should walk away when it is time.

As long as she follows through, at least Joni Ernst is doing what she said she would, though I suspect it isn't because of her promise but because she doesn't want a humiliating loss after telling people cutting services is fine because we're all going to die anyway.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I don't want this to become a "who's gonna get Kirked next" kinda thing. It's sad where the US is as a country.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 3 points 2 months ago

She seems nice. I've seen a flat rat wrapped around a tire after riding the tire to las Vegas a couple of times. Like that but nice.

[–] chrischryse@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Can’t the democrats still release them?

[–] jlow@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago

Is she very rich?
