That, but also when I do actually ask and they list a bunch of things they like about me and I am just sitting there like "I don't believe a word this lying bitch is saying."

Yeah... After you die.

Think about how you feel about them. It's probably about the same.

That's a good tip!

The line in the song Creep that hits the hardest is, "I want you to notice, when I'm not around".

Be the change. If you think of your friend, give em a text even if its just a quick "Hey. Thinking of you. Love you, miss you" whatever

this is tantamount to changing who you are in order to find out how people feel about you

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Especially as one could just as easily spin this in a more empathetic light: in acknowledging one's own desire to be seen, we can realise that it's likely that many other people feel similarly.

"Honestly? I've got so much shit I'm dealing with I don't think much about you or anyone else really. I think you're a generally good person, but you make mistakes like that boneheaded thing you did last year. I've done stupid things too so you're like the rest of us. I have an idea of some of the things you're currently facing, and hope you do okay with those. However, I just barely have enough energy to manage my own stuff, and many times not even enough and am underwater."

Wait. How are we supposed to know what's not in our heads?

Asking for a friend.
