JUST BASH ME LIKE A RAT! JUST BASH ME LIKE A RAT AND GET IT OVER WITH!

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 2 points 6 hours ago

We weren't quite sure what a worm hat was, right?
So we made a few of 'em.

considering alec baldwin hasa tendancy to discharge his gun sound about right.

too bad isaip went from chaotic evil to neutral in the later seasons.

no curb your enthusiam?

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Shouldn’t Brooklyn Nine-Nine be lawful good?

[–] Ashiette@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

The only lawful persons art Holt and Amy. For Jake, Gina, Scully, Hitchcock, and everybody else : it's chaotic.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

I disagree, pretty much every character in the show has a LG moment when they do the right thing in spite of being tempted not to.

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 4 points 22 hours ago

I think the Chaotic rating works, no? Between Jake's die hard antics and Scully & Hitchcock being themselves, I think it fits.

try House for chaotic good

also maybe instead of "random shows that some dude watches" you could go for a theme like medical shows, cop shows, whatever?

(oops all the cop shows would be lawful evil)

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 9 points 1 day ago

These are all sitcoms.

[–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (4 children)

House himself is a bad man though. He only helps people because it feeds his ego. Plus all the other shows are sitcoms and House isn't really.

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 12 hours ago

He had his moments of humanity, and it was to satisfy his curiosity as much as ego.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 11 hours ago

hes also somewhat amoral, because of his injury. the closest characther to another show would dr rush in SGU, they both had similar experiences that caused to be callous.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

Agree, I imagine House only got a medical degree because he was effortlessly a straight-A student and it fed his ego.

I mean the whole show is about how none of that matters when you save someone's life who would be dead otherwise

Puck from Gargoyles decided to mimic the most serious person he could find and serve a billionaire. All because he thought it would be hilarious. This is chaotic neutral. This continues to blow my mind.

[–] donuts@lemmy.world 100 points 2 days ago (4 children)

It's chaotic neutral until you hit the evil timeline

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 25 points 2 days ago

Danny Pudi ftw 👍

Fey and Poehler occupying the entire Lawful column is insane, and the truth.

Yes, Kenneth. :)

The copaganda show .... as chaotic good?

No. Heck no.

The Good Place is a much better fit.

[–] Brutticus@midwest.social 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

eh, woke cops is a liberal fantasy, to be sure. Brooklyn 99 was put in an awkward spot in 2020 and did its best to try and talk about them. I do think it was made with the best of intentions, and the cop stuff is mostly like, a parody of cop stuff tropes, rather than a fetishization of the cops themselves (like, say, Law and Order.) Maybe it doesn't excuse it totally, but it is really worse than say, Parks and Rec's cheery depiction of depiction of politics (especially when it goes national)?

Part of what convinces me of it's earnestness is how focused it was on representation. Theres a story about how when Stefanie Beatriz found out Melissa Fumero got the part of Amy, she was convinced well, that was it, they cast the Latina woman. I forget if they made the part of Rosa for her or they liked her so much they just cast her as it, but like, the cast being so diverse stands out compared to some of the more whiter casts on this very list. (and Im not knocking any show on this list, honestly. I liked them all except for The Office, which I never watched, and whatever LN is)

[–] insaneinthemembrane@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

LN is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 75 points 2 days ago (10 children)

Did you even see the last 2 seasons? They actually really confronted those issues and outright said that they weren't really the good guys, the show tackled multiple times that the system is completely broken. I get if it was Law and Order being mad, but man you're mad at the only cop show I've ever seen acknowledging and trying to tackle these issues. I mean, that's literally why they made the captain gay and black, and that's just one example.

None of them fit as well as Sunny for chaotic evil.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

Community is pretty damn good for CN

Neutral and Chaotic Evil.

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I'm Chaotic Evil. I've been watching IASIP since season 1 and could probably quote every line.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I didn't think I actually watch a lot of TV, but fuck me, I've seen pretty much every episode of every one of these shows, minus Brooklyn 99. Made it like 3 seasons and got bored with it.

[–] Hoimo@ani.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you liked every one of those shows, I can guarantee you that you'll like the rest of B99. Early seasons focus a lot on Jake, Holt and Amy, but later seasons get more variety in leads and storylines. There's a bunch of very good recurring concepts too, comparable to the Community paintball episodes. The series only gets stronger as it progresses imo.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 day ago

I dunno, man. I liked all the other shows from the get go except for parks and rec (season 1 was bad). Going like 3 seasons and deciding to stop watching..... Prolly just not going to do it for me.

All these are good (although I never saw the end of The Office), but I'm chaotic evil. IASIP is my all time favourite US sitcom (Peep Show being my favourite UK sitcom).

I'm neutral good apparently as it's the only show I know.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

I've seen almost all of them and can confirm that if you enjoyed one of the shows here you will probably enjoy each of them.

[–] TheCleric@lemmy.org 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Wow you’re missing out on some of the best sitcoms in history then. Community and arrested development alone, then you bring in 30 rock? I think those three are the most tightly and expertly written comedy scripts, period. They all ended up overstaying their storylines and you can pretty much lop off a few seasons of each, but as someone who watched them all while they aired, I have a deep, abiding love for them and still find joy in he lesser seasons. Do yourself a favor and catch up on these.
