/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Remember kids: We needed WWIII before we get the Star Trek Future.

The bell riots never happend. We must have made a wrong turn already somewhere.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh, they're coming. But they won't end well.

Our twist is the "heartland" will celebrate Bell's murder, insist that the concentration camp program be expanded, and push for the ration card system to be refunded.

If Kent State happened today, they'd be upset that more protestors weren't murdered.

From what I read, at the time of the Kent State Massacre, something like 60% of americans blamed the students.

If Kent State happened today a lot more people would die and they'd spin it to say it was started by illegal immigrants

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Well, the US took a couple of years more to start running concentration camps.

Well, Ireland didn't get unified either.

At least space isn't actually haunted.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why are you so sure about that?

[–] Diurnambule@jlai.lu 5 points 2 days ago

I mean some of the cool tech would help. If you could just build a replicator to give everyone material things they need, it solves quite a bit of the problems.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

We could invent replicators tomorrow (they are basically just advanced 3D printers) but if we still have Fascism, extremism, and egomaniacs it's not going to help. They would probably just pass a law that said that replicators were only for the government and then print up a bunch of guns.

Dear sir or madam, your recent payment for your Replication^tm^ subscription failed to process. Please update your payment information and try again or your device will cease to function. Thank you for your prompt attention on this matter.

I wish Star Trek was part of standard school curriculum
