Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Again this on-purpose confusing of "antisemitism" with "criticising Israeli politics". It would have been antisemitic if it was "Jews not welcome". Putting both in one pot is the key tactic to make IDF war crimes or Israeli settlers driving out Palestinians in-criticisable.

Criticism of Israel is not antisemitic

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I have many Jewish friends and a respectful disdain for most all religions… I love learning the practices and beliefs of various mythologies that have been created and conjured by those trying to hold and justify power over their people, especially the stories in their religious texts identifying ways to be good human beings in an unfair world.

Jews are pretty cool, and I love how knowledge and education are generally highly valued.

Fuck the Israeli government.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

In claiming that, Israel is saying that all Jewish people support the IDF's tactics of sniping babies and shooting starving people after luring them with food, which is itself quite antisemitic

[–] thedruid@lemmy.world 58 points 1 year ago (2 children)

As others have said. Disagreeing with Israeli policy is not any semetic at all.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is not about policy, Israelis didn't choose to be born there

[–] SaltySalamander@fedia.io 14 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Israel is a democracy. They chose their government. Reap what you sow and all that.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

So if you're a Palestinian Israeli, who in no way supports the government or voted for it, you get to be discriminated against?

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space -3 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Would it be fair to ban Americans because one disagrees with Trump?

Was it fair to bomb Germans because of Hitler?

Is it fair to sanction a country because of it's leadership?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world -5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Would it be fair to ban Jewish Germans from universities?

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How exactly is it comparable?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There are Palestinian Israelis

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And? How is it related to what you said?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Because banning Germans from the US in 1939 would exclude Jewish refugees from Germany from the US too

Excluding Israelis also excludes people who are ethnically Arab from Israel

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We didn't discriminate against German Jews, why should we discriminate against Israeli Arabs?

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Who is "we" and what's your point?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Americans didn't discriminate against all Germans during WW2, why should they discriminate against all Israelis when the US is not even at war with Israel?

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Americans

What are you even talking about?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Americans because Italy was an ally of Hitler's Germany so you can't make the same comparison

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Man, just put your thoughts in order. You are making no sense.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It makes no sense to discriminate against people based on the country of their birth or their citizenship. Is that clear enough?

Many countries are already boycotting lots of American stuff. Nothing racial about it.

I could easily see a business saying no Israeli citizens allowed but still welcome American Jews with Israeli heritage. Still not antisemitic.

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Israel calls for Political accountability... This must be a joke! That said, this is not antisemitism. This may indeed be political accountability!

Mixing religion and nationality is the excuse

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sucks to be the small minority of anti-genocide Israelis, but yeah you reap what you sow.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Did they have signs against Russians?

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

They should

[–] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Keep wasting your time with your dumb israeli propaganda

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago

Oh we will god damn you!!!! /s

[–] vala@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This isn't anti-Semitic. Stop it.

You mean shocks Zionist. I like how they like to conflate the two. Zionism = movement, Judaism = religion, the two are not the same.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world -4 points 1 year ago

You realize a lot of Palestinians are Israeli, right? Israeli is what your passport says

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Wow a Jewish Nazi. You losing your instance is my silver lining to lemm.ee

Nope. Their religion is only slightly stoopid-er by virtue of having more material. Doomsday cult dipshit. I bet you're like a mcchristian and haven't even read the whole Torah, just recited pieces with help.
