Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Ew just make an electric Civic please

[–] Delphia@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Make an electric EG hatch. Change as little as possible just make it feel like its got about 150 to 200hp.

God damn I miss that car.

They HAD one. The urban e was a great little car and they just didn't do anything with it 🤷‍♂️

[–] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Perhaps this is a new iteration of the e.

[–] pandakhan@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

It does kind of look like it, we shall see if they can follow through.

The Honda E was cute, but it was overpriced and had pitiful range. No reason they couldn’t ship an updated one with improvements like Fiat did with the 500e.

I wanted one so bad, but I agree price for the range was just abysmal.

Now if only we could have some more affordable and small EV options in Canada.

small elecric SUV

into the trash it goes.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

What's wrong with that? I'd rather have a small car that I don't have to crawl out of. So a small SUV would be much better than the regular smaller cars.

[–] dom@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yup. I have a kona electric and love the size. Easier to get in/out than my old mazda 3 and the hatch is convenient for groceries etc

Just get lifted suspension on a sedan. Same thing.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 3 points 2 weeks ago

sure, but that looks fucking dumb.

Is it just because the word "SUV" is somehow tainted with evil? Because as I understand it, the main beefs people have with SUVs is that they're big and have poor gas mileage. The "small" and "electric" parts of that description counter those problems.

[–] piccolo@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

"Small suv" is just a sedan that is brick shaped. Its less aerodynamic, more top heavy, and provides no benefits over a sedan hatchback.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Electric vehicles are very much not top-heavy. They are typically built with the batteries as a platform along the bottom, lowering their centers of gravity significantly. If anything this has become somewhat of a problem, road barriers aren't designed with such low centers of gravity in mind and testing has shown that some EVs tend to go under barriers when they hit them.

You asked for the beef of small suvs. So e-suvs solved one of the issues.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That's not the one in the thumbnail. 0 Series SUV vs Super EV Concept.

[–] OfCourseNot@fedia.io 2 points 2 weeks ago

Designed as an A-segment electric SUV

From the article.

It’s the word “concept” that worries me. Concept cars rarely make it into production without significant alterations, and frequently those alterations take away what made the concept interesting and unique in the first place.

Concept cars are usually just the company/designers showing what they could do, not what they will do.

This one appears to be a roadworthy prototype vehicle that is going to participate in some driving challenge at Goodwood. But Honda doesn't have any details to share about possible production dates, so it's still far away if ever.
