Works until it doesn't. Connected cars go back almost 20 years now. better to research the car and ways to remove telemetry. Base model cars tend to have less telemetry, or none at all.

Work in IT some time. If everything is working, you're "not doing your job." When something goes wrong, "you're not doing your job." Thus is the life of an on-call worker.
In 2010 there was "gas pedal gate" when a lot of Toyotas went on fire sale because people claimed the gas pedal was getting stuck (new drive by wire throttle systems), but the reality is, after years of research, it's come down to a skill issue. People stepping on the gas instead of the brake and sending it accidentally
Toyota even got NASA involved in testing for interference with radiation and cosmic rays causing a possible bit flip that could command the car to full send... but that didn't work.
The telling part was when they saw a large percentage of people in the accidents were old, diabetic, or both - two categories that have poor proprioception, (knowing where your limbs are) which was a major factor, as some of the cars on the list and lawsuits were made before drive by wire throttle - that is, they were mechanical linkages, so blaming the computer is impossible when there's no computer to blame.

Autopilot will let a plane fly a heading, or even follow waypoints and land, but you the pilot still have to be watching the sky and the plane, ready to take over when something goes wrong. And airlines have way more stringent safety measures than cars.
That means auto drive systems still require the meatsack to monitor the driving, ready to take over when something goes wrong.
In this case, either the driver was hooning it and did a full send into the house, or he had a skill issue and put the ~~brake~~ accelerator to the floor in a panic moment.
When you car slams on the brakes suddenly because it thinks you're suddenly driving on the jog road next to the highway, don't complain to me.
It's a skill issue on the driver's part... or do you want the Tesla to come to a screeching halt on the highway every time the cameras white out from the sun?

Windows will use 5-9gb just to run. Most linuxes use 1-2GB for the heaviest desktops, and around 450-650MB for the lightest desktops. Memory usage is much more efficient under Linux nowadays.
