Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). There is a good reason not to follow unconstitutional orders.

[–] riyehn@sh.itjust.works 8 points 17 hours ago

The question is what will convince individual troops and units that their orders are illegal. Disobeying orders isn't something the military takes lightly. In theory a court order should be proof enough, but who knows these days.

[–] Patrikvo@lemmy.world 11 points 19 hours ago

And rather than fighting against people who can't reach your home, those protestors can strike back. I hope anyone in the military realises that he's putting their own family at harms way. That may very well change the equation. I'm sure they are willing to risk their own lives, but are they also willing to risk the lives of the kids?

This is actually insane. Bringing tanks to a knife fight... except it's not even a knife fight it's a thumb war. This is going to cause country wide rioting and Trump's only recourse will be to further up the anti. I feel worried for you guys.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 37 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

This is all predictable. By next summer, besides more immigration crimes, we'll have food and product shortages, massive tariff-driven inflation, an economy roiling over his constant market manipulation, Luigi's trial, arrests of prominent politicians and resistors, etc. There will be protests against all of these issues and more, and he will use those protests to stir up trouble and create violence.

By next summer it will get really ugly, and he'll declare Martial Law, and suspend the Midterm election, so he can preserve his Congressional majorities.

Without Skum to rig the election, he will have no choice but to go with the Martial Law option.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 14 points 19 hours ago

more immigration crimes

You really mean, more trumped up, fabricated, magnified and fake news, immigration crimes.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

next summer

You are more optimistic than I

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

It's about legal timing, at which HitlerPig is a virtuoso, due to plenty of practice. If he declares Martial Law too early, he gives the courts time to rule against him when he suspends the election, which is the primary objective.

So he will use the next year and a few months to keep amping up the rhetoric, the atrocities, the violence, until it is out of control next summer. He'll allow the primary race to go on, giving MAGA the opportunity to spread their propaganda, and finally cancel the election only a few weeks before.

Until then, it's all about escalation.

Doesn't trump lose horribly every time he goes after CA?

He'd have better luck waiting for something to go down in the Midwest, but yeah, w/e good luck.

He fucked up every investor by around $200,000.0 each. Lots of love for this guy to go around. Somehow he keeps buying into higher and higher places. Purchasing the seat of the US presidency may not be the end.....China has a heck of a lot of people to fuck with!

Especially in a town known for its history of riots. LA is ready to kick some nazi ass at a moments notice.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 12 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Doesn't the California National Guard report to the Governor?

“The Trump Administration has a zero tolerance policy for criminal behavior …”

Dude that’s your entire administration. Have some self-awareness, you orange, sagging, coffin dodging oxygen thief.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 20 hours ago

Have some self-awareness

The hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug. Don't waste your time.

Whatever side of this issue you fall on, you should at least know that, tactics-wise, joining with the LAPD to do raids in Eastside LA is not going to work how you think it will. There’s movies, albums, books, historic moments in living memory, etc. that warn about that. Start in Sacramento or wherever. Don’t expect East LA to care about your “authority.”
