At least he didn't SLAM Democrats. What a relief

[–] ebolapie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I have some bad news about the first sentence in the article

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Crap, I didn't read the article, I just wanted to do my joke and be done with it.

[–] ebolapie@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

If I'm being honest I read the one sentence, thought "oh that's really funny in light of the top comment," came back to share the bad news, and forgot about the article entirely.

“We have the lamest opposition in American history,” Vance wrote on the social media

For once I agree with Vance. I wish Democrats would do something useful to stop MAGA. They are showboating but still voting for his appointments. Looking at you, Corey Booker.

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 77 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why is Vicious Mockery so effective against these clowns?

I mean. If they were competent and confident in what they're doing they really wouldn't be bothered by stuff like this. But every time whether its covfefe or taco or couch fucking they just melt like a wicked witch being given a swirly.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

The fact that this TACO thing bothers him that much is the best reason to not only continue, but to expand that campaign.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 40 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did you even say Thank You for the tacos, James Donald Bowman?

Learn some manners!

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thank you for deadnaming James Donald Bowman.

My personal campaign is deadnaming him in every thread that concerns him.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I'll support the effort too!

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Okay…. So I think at this point, one of the democrats should buy one of their interns a new couch and take the old one to Vance’s house and slap a sign that says “Free… I got stood up” outside.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Trump always chickens out — we’re just bringing the tacos to match,” DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement on the food truck’s message. “Instead of realizing his tariff chaos is wrecking the economy, Trump continues to drag America towards more economic pain, and the rest of the world sees Trump for exactly what he is: a chicken.”

Still waiting on people to wise up that Martin is actually legit.

The dude knows what he's doing

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Maybe so but the majority of the rest of the Democrats have no fucking clue what they're doing and actively undermine anything the minority of Democrats and progressives do to effectively oppose these fascists.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

but the majority of the rest of the Democrats

Decades of neoliberals shenigans have conflated "the party" with individual elected representatives

That was never how it was supposed to work

We just took a big step in fixing that. Martin doesn't play favorites, the winner of the primary is who the party will support, and they're not gonna pick sides till a primary is over.

The only reason a lot of those elected representatives are even still in office is the party fought off primary challengers for decades protecting them. They can't win fair primaries, even with the money advantage

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

They know exactly what they are doing: stroking off the corporate money spigots.

[–] mrbubblesort@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Takes easy shots for internet points while maintaining the status quo and not trying for any actual improvements

The Dems are legit and got it figured out now!

An article saying they're taking in more private money and giving it to their state reps? Without any mention of policy or government planning?

No actually, can't really put my finger on why, but that really doesn't do it for me.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

and giving it to their state reps?

No, to state parties...

The state parties that neoliberals spent almost a decade bankrupty thru the victory fund.

Like, it's not writing checks to politicians, it's paying staffers to work starting now instead of waiting till six months before an election.

Turning those into full time permanent positions, and a venue for an average working class person to become involved in politics.

I'm sorry you don't understand how this is a big deal, so feel free to keep asking questions. It might help someone else who sees it too.

[–] mrbubblesort@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You're one of their staffers, aren't you? It's easy to see really, talked right past me without getting a thing I said. Attitudes like that are why the Dems keep losing slam-dunk elections. All you're saying is how well they're building the machine, without any mention of what this machine is for and what they're going to do with it.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Like, to start at the beginning we have to cover the "victory fund" that started in 2016.

See, in 2008 Obama bucked tradition by ignoring the DNC and refusing to nominate a chair. This allowed neoliberals to maintain control, but with Obama not working with the DNC they were broke by the time he left.

Hilary's primary campaign started paying the DNC's bills, and in return they got approval of everything the DNC did. They also greenlit the "victory fund" which allowed someone to bundle donations to the DNC, a candidate, and state party all at their donation limits.

But all the money went to the DNC. Which shared with Hillary/Biden/Kamala. In 2016 I think it was 1% of the money went back to the states. In the past the states got those "overflow" donations that let Dems be more competitive in purple and red districts.

So for about a decade that money has dried up and that's how telubyhave majorities.

Paying that money back to the state parties allows them to start working on voter outreach and engaging with voters, hearing their issues and explaining how Dems can fix it, if we get the votes.

[–] mrbubblesort@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It's not about the fucking money dude! No one gives a shit, you've got it bassakwards. You're so wrapped up in getting enough to beat the other team that you're completely missing what your voters actually want. Love them or hate them, Obama, Bernie, and even Trump showed you guys that if you talk to people, if you speak their language, and (in Trump's case pretend to) address their concerns, that other shit won't matter.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

that if you talk to people, if you speak their language, and (in Trump’s case pretend to) address their concerns, that other shit won’t matter.

Right...

And the state parties pay for the infrastructure that allows those things to happen...

You think Bernie and AOC foot the bill for those huge town halls? The state parties pay for that.

But it makes no sense for them to go to Cali, and the red and purple states can't afford to support it...

Except now they can.

Like, you have the right complaints about what was wrong, you just haven't noticed it's been addressed.

[–] iamanoldguy@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

They "deployed" a taco truck. Everything is militarized with these tangerine, brain worm, couch fucking losers.

Oh, and FREE tacos! Who doesn't want free tacos!

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Dear Mr. Vance, if this protest by the opposition is as lame as you say, why do you acknowledge it at all?

I can only conclude that this protest have gotten under your and Mr. Trump's skin, and you don't have any effective counter to it.

[–] twjolson@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You are not allowed to call him "Vance" because that is not what is on his birth certificate.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago

It's James.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Hummm, I wonder how many would understand who I was talking about if I called him Mr. Bowman?

Also, that fucking idiot is just three years older than me, what?

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I read this too early and the crash blossom headline made me think someone was getting physically knocked over a taco truck. I got excited for a second to see a literal brawl happen between congress folk.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago
[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

HA! That's PROOF that THIS is MUCH More Effective then Stopping Trump's AGENDA!

-The DNC!

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 1 day ago

Look at the comments here. All this bs, zero effort distraction while p2025 gets stuff done.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

The way the headline was written, I thought there was an actual brawl.

[–] griff@lemmings.world 2 points 2 days ago

Taco Jr has feefees

If they weren’t serving exclusively chicken tacos, that’s a missed opportunity 😂

He needs to shut his fucking mouth and go stick his micro pud in another couch.
