Beautiful pillowy mounds

Hydrangeas are beautiful plants, we are lucky to have a few in our yard! One of them can't actually bloom because evidently that variety only flowers on 'old' wood, which is not great for cold climates.

Anyway, for those who don't know, you can actually change the color of your hydrangea by adjusting soil ph. They are "naturally" a darkish pink.

I'm extremely stubborn and DETERMINED to force my non-wood hardy hydrangea to bloom by burying it in leaves and giving it a nice little house in the winter.

I have like 5 of these in the yard, I split one and put it in a new bed that I had made. To my surprise it only will give white blooms now. But I have never been able to get a pink at all.
