Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

applause with your mouth

Did we forget the word "cheering"?

I like "applause with your mouth."

It's the difference between a standing ovation and "you can do it!"

Or conversely, applause is just an orgasm with your hands.

Now I want to know what is the equivalent of booing during Sex?

That's just gonna happen naturally if you're doing it right. Why not just actually boo them? 🤷🏻‍♂️

"Boo! Boo I say! That's not how you suck dick, you amateur!"

As weird as this whole topic is, I too want to know the boo equivalent now.

This makes the US state of the union address somehow even more disturbing.

Is there nowhere on the internet I can go without an explicit reference to U.S. politics?

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 6 points 5 hours ago

There is not.

I only put US specifically because I don't know how other countries do it. The joke was just about a bunch of politicians having an orgasm after every sentence lol

I had hoped that Lemmy would be slightly less US centric than the rest of the online communities, but nope. Wish they could all join a US Lemmy instance so I could just block it there.

Considering we're all actively being fucked by this administration......

[–] cattywampas@lemm.ee 3 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Weird that you picked this specific example instead of any of the many events that involve applause.

It's called comedy good sir

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Fuh fuh fuh, hmmmm yes. Jolly good.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 4 points 5 hours ago

Because of the people it involves, it almost never is genuine applause for one and the thought of just one political party having all their representatives "orgasm" after every single line that is said while the other sits there silent or disgruntled adds to the humor.
