Not all Draculas have castles, just Vampire because he was a Count.

[–] programmer_belch@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think having 600 years for your investments would give you access to enough wealth to buy a nice house

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This assumes the vampire is decent with finances.

[–] i_love_FFT@jlai.lu 5 points 1 week ago

I'd be pissed that i have to keep changing banks, because they go bankrupt too often... Like, can't one use the same financial institution for 1000 years without worrying about it?

[–] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 12 points 1 week ago

Count Vampire was quite a legendary dracula

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Dyslecsic fix: Dracul was the noble living in a castle. Vampires live anywhere.

[–] SatanClaus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fuck. I have a desk half together in my garage. It's been. Three years. Lol. I'll buy that desktop someday!

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

Yes, I have one there as well. I even need it a lot of the times, would improve my life somewhat if put together. But there has been no hint that this would be the year.

You guys, I've been trying to spray paint a display case for nearly 2 years now. I think I'm over halfway done, but my partner insisted we throw away the cardboard I was using because it was outside for 2 winters and it's been throught a lot neocat, cry

[–] SippyCup@feddit.nl 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have an urgent request for you.

I need to see a finished photo of this display case, I think it'll look really cool when it's done. But I will only care for like, another weekend. So it's urgent, it's gotta be done soon or you'll lose precious internet points!

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Me too, I want too see the display case !!!!

Damn you all, because I'm now emotionally invested in this

[–] kattfisk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 week ago

I recently played Curse of Strahd and that dude had food that had been sitting out since before he was a vampire and entire rooms full of cobwebs.

why would i put it together? the box it is still inside of works perfectly fine

[–] dwindling7373@feddit.it 7 points 1 week ago

What's embarassing about that? It's my stuff I decide how, when or why to dispose of them.

[–] Ruthalas@infosec.pub 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pretty sure that's what the thralls are for.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe the whole trope of "Vampire Lord manipulates thralls by promising to turn them into vampires, but never actually does it" is actually just because of ADHD causing them to never get round to it.

[–] Squirrelanna@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's not that they never get around to it. It's that the thought of taking on the responsibility of thralls is so paralyzing that they cannot muster the willpower to get it done.

"Hey boss, you ready to bestow eternal life unto us and forever bind us to servitude?"

"Shit, I forgot dude. I'm sorry. Still have some prep to do but I'll keep you updated."

That's a lie. ADHD folks forget a lot of things, but not the horror that is being locked in your useless body watching the clock tick down while you scream internally to just DO THE THING INSTEAD OF TORMENTING YOURSELF FOR HOURS, DAYS, WEEKS, or god forbid CENTURIES when the fix is a simple bite and being fucking honest with your thralls, hoping they understand.

Another hour passes. Executive dysfunction doesn't care. Not like you can metabolize your medicine for it anymore.

[–] Squirrelanna@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 1 week ago

Wholesome plot twist: the thralls to be know. They don't really care about the conversion, they just think you're cool and see you struggling to manage your lair. The conversion is just so they can help you out after death.

[–] essell@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Connically they do! Or maybe something else

If being chased by a vampire, the advice is scatter seeds on the ground, the vampire will be compelled to stop and count them

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

"Canonically."

And this was pretty funny in The X-Files, when Mulder spilled sunflower seeds. The vampire drops to the floor and starts counting, spitting at him, "You dick!"

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hahaha, that's awesome.

I didn't learn about this aspect of vampires till a couple years ago. I always wondered why the count on Sesame Street was a vampire.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The slightly goofy Francis Ford Coppola adaptation both includes it and solves it. Van Helsing throws a bowl of grains into the air and Dracula names the total before they hit the ground.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

So Rain Man was a vampire?

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

'Bout a hundred grains of rice.

[–] Foreigner@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This seems to imply that death is the only way we'll ever escape that pile of clean laundry you have yet to put away.

[–] King_Bob_IV@startrek.website 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can you think of any other way that seems likely?

[–] Foreigner@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I never knew laundry could be so threatening.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

The backlog of video games and books would literally never end.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 4 points 1 week ago

Hahaha, oh damn..

[–] photonic_sorcerer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I get anxiety from unfinished shit laying around the house.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

(Yes, that it's a core part of adhd unfinished protects - it's not that we don't abandon some projects or just don't want to do them, that to, but the memey is about the projects we would like to do, even enjoy, about projects we think about daily, about projects that give us anxiety through sheer fatigue of thinking about it for so long. We are exhausted.)

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Putting "cringe" in the headline is the only cringey thing I see here.
