Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

MODERATORS

You fucking morons. No one sabotaged Trump. He got mad when she said people left his rallies, started ranting about eating dogs and the crazy train never stopped.

The moderators never made him say all the crazy shit he said. They didn't make "they're eating the dogs" a meme.

The moderators let Trump speak for nearly 43 minutes, while only allowing Harris to speak for 37 minutes. It's almost like they were 15% more biased for Trump.

Except we all know that letting Trump talk is the best way to make Trump lose, so maybe they WERE sabotaging him. /s

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 68 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They rely on people either not having seen the debate or clips, or just having as short of a memory as Trump.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 40 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know personally people who are actually brainwashed enough to believe any negative information about him must be fake. It's rather sad.

Mostly, they watch a lot of Fox News.

[–] WatDabney@sopuli.xyz 27 points 2 years ago

And those are the people this whole thing is intended for.

You'll note that none of the people involved responded to attempts to get further statements or clarifications from them. That's because they know it's indefensible bullshit. They said it just so that it would get out there so that the faithful would see it and add it to their credo, and now they're going to ignore it.

If this is accurate—and I do not know that it is—it would constitute one of the gravest violations of journalist ethics in presidential debate history. If true, multiple senior people at @abc

If indeed this turns out to be true, which is looking increasingly likely,

Right, so all you blokes (though they can hardly be called that), Cruz, Musk and Ackerman. You’ll all be resigning when this comes out as bullshit right? Since ethics and integrity are super important right? How can your constituents or shareholders have any faith in you if you don’t? If them (ABC and Harris) doing this is such a grave violation; your all but reporting it as fact should be nearly the same level.

Also, just super love Cruz, truly dedicated to swallowing Trumps balls to the end. If ethics are a big problem we should be hearing Cruz complaining about Trump lying 33 times during the debate.

Oh what’s that, we don’t hear anything? Ah well, Cruz’ mouth is probably full, give Donny a minute or two.

[–] SeaJ@lemm.ee 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not sure integrity has ever been a thing for Musk. Really any of them but definitely not Musk.

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Sure but I rope him in because of his try hard “Yes.” Presumably he envisions it as him passing his verdict on any given situation. I see it as him (and by extension his platform) endorsing everything in the contextually relevant chain that Ackerman posted.

Super cool that billionaires (one that bought out a huge social media network, conveniently) and politicians are colluding in public to tarnish the opponent of their choice in candidate. Lucky they’re not journalist and are spreading these reddit tier investigation/accusations through social media. Very cool and not illegal feeling at all.

Tap for spoilerIt is actually almost impressive. Stirring up further doubt in MSM via crippling the legitimacy of the debate which was terrible for Trump. Whilst driving more lunatics into twitter, which is more eyeballs for their propaganda and further destroys what twitter was before dickhead bought it out. Pity the execution was transparent and moronic as per.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 29 points 2 years ago (2 children)

well they let him speak and checked his facts and that is about the most damning thing anyone can do to trump.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

My dude we have been in a post-truth world for nearly a decade now. Facts don't matter.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Some delusional clowns out here screeching that it was three against one... they should be counting Donald on Team Kamala before they count the moderators.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 2 years ago

that was one of my comments right after when they said this stuff. She did alright but the real thing was how much he self destructed.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It's interesting to me how Ackman was portrayed in the 2016 Betting On Zero documentary as some kind of social champion for the poor who wanted to end the exploitation of regular working/middle class Americans by Herbalife.

When watching that that depiction of Ackman rang hollow, no matter how hard they tried to push that narrative. It just seemed like a financial battle royale where both sides were scumbags. And now, of course, that's been confirmed (yet again). He's just another entitled ultra-rich asshole peddling bullshit for his own selfish, exploitative intentions.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

And how quickly the media swallowed his bullshit about the university presidents like he was just legitimately concerned about minor sourcing problems or reports of scattered incidents of antisemitism on college campuses rather than a long term anti-woke crusade.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

It's really rich. The same party that six months ago was apoplectic because a handful of Jewish students were blocked by protesters from using one of many doors at a few buildings when they attempted to march through barricades, decrying it as Hitler returned? That same party is now trying to start a pogrom against Haitian immigrants in Ohio.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I mean, it and the other Herbalife docu’s were a propaganda war between Ackman and Carl Icahn.

Both were in the middle of a nasty feud and kept taking opposite trades. The docu was a hit piece to try and bolster Ackman’s short position. (Which was taken after Icahn took a long position.)

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They must have sabotaged Trump because there’s no way Donald Trump could make a fool of himself on his own.

(/s, obviously)

[–] socsa@piefed.social 6 points 2 years ago

Right? What is even the claim supposed to be here? I watched the whole thing. At no point did either of the moderators stick their hand up Trump's ass and work his mouth like a puppet

[–] Dramaking37@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why would we trust the son of JFK's killer??

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I wish Repubs quit collaborating with everyone Donald maligned. They are already not collaborating with every Dem, so that would just mean losing support for some of the most despicable pieces of shit on the planet.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 2 years ago

But Trump said the numbers were huge in his favor! Lol

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

It's almost adorable. So fussy.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 years ago

Now's the time to pin this stupid bullcrap to Senator Cruz especially, so that he may be unseated this November.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

Is this like the affidavit Comer told the public on Fox 'news' was evidence of Biden committing a crime, then realizing it was misinformation fed to him by a Russian operative he completely fell for?

[–] LANIK2000@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

Attaching those 3 to anything should be an immediate red flag about the following.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Liars lie to cover for lie by biggest liar.

[–] JohnOliver@feddit.dk 6 points 2 years ago

The guys you want to trust with good sources... /s

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

He got mad when she said he had small PP (political power)

[–] b3an@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago
