Flashback to when you used to be able to make stuff like this your desktop background, just changing the pattern, color, and if it would fill/tile/stretch etc.

Hello, I'm Singleton Uematsu, welcome to NPR. Prepare for a major release of applause for the architect behind a truly class-ic framework, a gem of a developer: David 'The Rails Alchemist' Heinemeier Hansson!

[–] muzzle@lemm.ee 14 points 10 months ago

What do you mean "we were not talking about software programming patterns"?

[–] coolie4@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

You made me look it up. Uematsu isn't dead

[–] twice_hatch@midwest.social 5 points 10 months ago

Singleton is your favorite pattern? We can't be friends anymore

Chester Plaid

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (2 children)

There's a fun game called "NPR host or Star Wars character?"

See how many you can get right!

Razia Iqbal

Cikatro Vizago

Kai Ryssdal

Ofeibea Quist-Arcton

Douali Xaykaothao

Jek Porkins (lol)

Edit: Answers: only the second one and the last one are from Star Wars. The rest are NPR

[–] leftzero@lemmynsfw.com 18 points 10 months ago

I don't know about the rest, but Jek Porkins died for the rebellion during the battle of Yavin, everyone who's seen at least the original film should know this.

Jek Tono Porkins, during the battle of Yavin

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Im not a major fan but none of those sound like Star Wars characters to me so imma guess: all NPR?

Youre listening to morning edition with Grunge Presley.

[–] sfled@lemm.ee 7 points 10 months ago

Live, from Chicago's famous Studebaker Theater, I'm Herringbone Winehouse sitting in for Peter Sagal on Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me. Today's guests have all been rounded up by ICE, so Bill Kurtis and I will exchange obscure yet witty barbs while a sad trumpet plays a downtempo version of the Wait Wait theme in a minor key.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 7 points 10 months ago

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

what's the pattern where you say "I'll never do to my kids what my parents did to me" then you do, and they do it their kids? and it just runs in your family for decades

I'm Calico Morrison, and coming up next on The Delicious Dish, Pete Schweddy returns once again to give us a look at the methods his family has used to raise each pig that goes into a succulent Schweddy Wiener. So stay tuned and open your ears for Schweddy hogs, here on NPR.
