Can anyone recommend a distro (and desktop environment?) that's going to be almost the same as desktop mode on the Steam deck? I'm getting more comfortable in that than I expected to be in any Linux, and to my surprise and delight I haven't had to delve into the command line at all yet.

you upgrade your shit by doing cool stunts and the main mode of progression is a how-much-shit-have-you-blown-up-in-this-area meter.

I saw that one thrown around when I was searching before. I wouldn't really be playing it for the story, but as long as the story's there, should I be familiar with the first two?

You probably want a dedicated game, but I have a lot of fun with Dragon Kart in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

There's so much I want to like about Warframe, but last time I tried it I couldn't get any sense of what a new player's supposed to do to start progressing, or to get the story in a comprehensible way. The build timers also made me sad. I got all the parts, just give me the Rhino.

Still though, "We All Lift Together" is a certified banger.

Ah, maybe that's the missing ingredient. Pretty sure I don't have that yet. I fucked off from the main story almost immediately to go find balloons and such.

Ooh, I wasn't thinking of first-person games, but that does look pretty gnarly.

Oh damn, it's descended from Hulk UD? I loved that game, definitely one that was on my mind for this type of game. I'll certainly be checking this one out then.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing that one, but I never got around to trying it. Sort of a grimdark/knockoff Venom version of Infamous, yeah?

I want to grapple, glide, wall run, etc around a big open world. What are some games you think are fun for that?

I picked up Sunset Overdrive on a sale, and the rail grinding is fine I guess, but it's just not clicking with me.

It's not the intelligence I find as interesting as the formal education prior to villainy.

That episode is both one of my favorite pieces of Batman media ever, and also an excellent example of both a "lower decks" episode and a vignette episode. Absolute gem of the whole series.

Something about lobotomizing Jim Gordon and the Mayor to take over the city. His hideout would have to be an incredibly conspicuous pyramid in which he stores grain, so I guess the theme should lean into that.

"Dr. Pharaoh", maybe? He dresses like a pharaoh but he has a surgeons mask, stethoscope, and that old timey mirror on a headband. He throws scalpels much like Batman does batarangs, and has goons dressed like Egyptian royal servants who carry him on a palanquin.

Just off the top of my head, there's Scarecrow, Ivy, Harley, Hugo Strange, Kirk Langstrom, and I think I read that Freeze had his revoked.

I'm including anything only available on other Nintendo systems as exclusive for this.

I've got a $50 eShop card I figure I should spend before gold points go away.

I have BotW. It was alright, but it didn't excite me enough to get TotK unless it's on a deep discount.

I've also already got Mario Odyssey and Metroid Prime Remastered. I have a handful of other games but they're not Switch exclusive afaik.

I'm mostly using my Steam deck for handheld these days, so I'd rather not get anything non-exclusive on the Switch right now.

Nearly everybody loved the open-city Arkham games and Spider-Man, and nearly everybody loved playing a stealth archer in Skyrim.

Get the fucking peanut butter in the chocolate and let me be Oliver Queen already.

I've been playing the Guardians of the Galaxy game lately, and after realizing how similar Lae'zel and Gamora are, I know I have to reinstall BG3 for a Guardians playthrough.

STARRING...

  • Tav as Petyr O'Quill, a.k.a. BARD-LORD - Half-elf, dual crossbows, high Cha/low Int. Torn between Lore for Cutting Words, or Swords for more pew pew.
  • Lae'zel as Gamora, the deadliest woman in the ~~galaxy~~ Sword Coast - All I really need here is modding her an emo haircut.
  • Astarion as Rocket - They're both foul-mouthed and quick to anger. Their backstories actually have a lot of thematic similarity, being twisted into someone else's weapon. Probably a Sorc to accommodate Rocket's love of explosions, unless the Artificer mod is any good. Could have Shovel as a stand-in for Groot? I may try to mod him into a gnome so that he too is small and adorable.

AND MAYBE...?

That leaves one party slot, which I see going one of two ways:

  • Karlach/Minsc as Drax the Destroyer - Big, gullible, excitable, destroys stuff.
  • Minthara as Nebula - I feel like she'd have the same vibe in a good party. Dragging her around with the misfits I'm turning into begrudging heroes might make for great banter.

Suggestions on builds/mods/things to do for maximum chaos and therefor fun? Stories of your own weird themed parties? Arguments about my awful flarking decisions?

Not to flood the community, but several people seemed to like the last one. So here's another taste of bardcore, this time a collab from two of the greats.

I fuckin' love bardcore, and Hildy is the godsdamned QUEEN!

A haunting medieval style cover of NIN's classic, Hildegard's version seems to tell the tale of a regretful immortal crushed under the weight of outliving everyone they connect with.

And a question for the comments, any interest in a possible c/bardcore community? Or is there one my search missed?

I read the lyrics for this on reddit a few years back, and just learned there was a recording. Would be great for for a bard doing an adventure at the Yawning Portal.

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

It's not warm when she's away

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

And she's always gone too long

Anytime she goes away

I haven't tried these, but someone mentioned them the other day as being fantastic. I was looking for another good CRPG after I finish my current Pathfinder WotR run so I wishlisted the bundle, and apparently had great timing.

Sunao ni I LOVE YOU! todokeyou

Kitto YOU LOVE ME! tsutawaru sa
