Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

“All the religious school is saying is ‘Don’t exclude us on account of our religion,’” Justice Brett Kavanaugh said. “If you go and apply to be a charter school and you’re an environmental studies school, or you’re a science-based school, or you’re a Chinese immersion school, or you’re a English grammar-focused school, you can get in. And then you come in and you say, ‘Oh, we’re a religious school.’ It’s like, ‘Oh, no, can’t do that, that’s too much.’ That’s scary.” He continued: “You can’t treat religious people and religious institutions and religious speech as second-class in the United States… And when you have a program that’s open to all comers except religion… that seems like rank discrimination against religion.”

This sounds like DEI to me.

Because 'religious school' is called church, you fuck

[–] Gowron_Howard@lemm.ee 24 points 10 months ago

This is absurd! Religion is absolute fiction. Those other schools are grounded in facts, logic, and reason. Fuck all religions and their brain rot bullshit.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 19 points 10 months ago

lets us remind that kavanaugh was in alot of debt before being confirmed by scotus, which was paid off by his family.

[–] Hermit_Lailoken@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

Second class, that's funny.

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone 48 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I went to a religious private school, I learned basically nothing more than to hate people with slightly more melanin in their skin, to hate people who practice my religion slightly different than me, and to blindly obey the Capitalists and never fight back against genocide. Well that was a waste of an education because I ended up being an antifascist anyway :3

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 months ago

I went to a public school and got 2/3rds of what you did, so I'm not really sure the issue is public vs private and more an issue of education in general in the U.S.

[–] Hermit_Lailoken@lemmy.world 27 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They want to groom the children to be subservient sheep.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 10 points 10 months ago

You weren't told to be not seen or heard while being beat as a kid?

[–] ugtug@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago (3 children)

As soon as an Islamic character school is opened, the US Supreme Court will suddenly have a different stance.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Or The Satanic Temple.

Can’t wait to the Seven Tenets posted in every school.

I don’t know if I see one of those having the support or interest to open one, especially in red states where it would anger the politicians. I’m hoping for the Satanic Temple, personally.

[–] ugtug@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

How about a pastafarian charter school?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 9 points 10 months ago

Lol, you really think that law will allow that?

Only good Christian schools will be allowed, lest the satanists open up their baphomet school (which would be awesome, btw)

[–] oyo@lemm.ee 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Just call them what they are--private schools that are too shit to charge full price for their "services."

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 3 points 10 months ago

Private schools shouldn't exist either.

[–] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 13 points 10 months ago

Perhaps an ideal time to reintroduce community run/funded Ferrer Schools to combat it.

[–] capital_sniff@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Am I the only one looking forward to the coming witch trials?

[–] UnhingedFridge@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Gotta get ready to bring some guns to save some witches 🤘

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca -4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

You didn't use guns to save the country, but you're gonna use it to save women? Lmao sure America

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Hey can I come live in your country where everyone works together to fix all the problems and there's nothing that stands in the way of fixing the problems?

I've never heard of a country like that but i would love to live in one.

[–] UnhingedFridge@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago

So, real quick, you're telling me that you think it's equally feasible to take on the secret service as it is to take on smaller groups? I just want to make sure.

Also, I said witches in regards to the witch trials - innocent people who were tortured and killed based on lies. If you dig a little deeper, you'd see that's happening right now with people like Kilmar Garcia. You can make it a woman thing in your head on face value of the word witch, but nobody has interchanged the term "witch hunt" for "warlock hunt" in the past pretty much fucking forever.

I honestly don't have the patience for your goddamn smug ass shitposting.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

I'm more excited for the Nuremberg 2.0 trials.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

The town common is still open in Salem, and now there’s a bar nearby with great cocktails and keno

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

let they already have. we have a "secular religious school" where we live it is considered private, but not the fundy types that dont teach sht. they prepare thier students(alot of them dint seem like they pratice christianity) better for college than the public schools around, which is babysitting them, which is doing them a disservice because they also pass them via participation grades(Ds are considered passable, and some times Fs), i dont know if they recieve govt funding though. and htis is a super blue area.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

I would expect nothing less from the cristofascists.

[–] JakenVeina@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

The Supreme Court is about to ~~let~~ use religion to intentionally ruin public education.
