It’s starting here too I called out a 5hr old account for being a suspected Russian bot and my comments were removed. I also got mobbed on by a manosphere group in a comment on an article about a book that a woman wrote about being doxed with revenge porn. The toxic Reddit culture is starting to come over.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
I find anything remotely pro women has always got shitty comments from the manosphere. We recently had a spate of shitty male comments on [email protected]
Thanks for this response. I feel less alone. It’s pretty frustrating to see these manosphere mobs claiming victim status and accusing people of misandry when women speak frankly about their lived experiences. I was hoping that lemmy would be a better space for this kind of thing.
You're on lemmy.world, they're the default landing zone but imo there is better moderation on dbzer0 and others. Keep looking around and report stuff you see if it's hate content. Good luck...
I know, it's disappointing. The nice thing is how fantastically supportive so many men have been, I've had a few DMs and really nice comments from them. It's just the bad are so awful
Capitalistic facism aka enshittiffication.
Elon whined to the admins, reddit is completely run by fascist bootlickers lmao. You can't even shit talk dusty evangelicals for being the amoral murder rapists they are without getting a site wide ban
Billionaires are taking control of any avenue for free speech. Get yourself ready to switch to torr. Won't be long now until it's the last place free of misinfo/disinfo campains.
Shitty moderation, biased mods, oh well
Oh good I’m not alone in believing something weird is going on like AI moderation. Random old account I had I wasn’t even using got a notification it was permabanned for violating a rule. No definition of which rule. Tried asking. Just a repeat that I violated a rule with no definition of which rule.
It must be just bots on there now.
no your not, i noticed it was odd that i wasnt recieving the incident of the ban, like they usually give if you get banned. but its just AI message and autorejection. and then the last thing, other accounts i havnt used years ago is banned too.
additionally, i had recieved a temp ban prior but it somehow triggered this.
I just got banned for saying that if RFK doesn't believe in germ theory we should dust him with anthrax and see what he says, lol.
Enshittification happened, a long time ago.
You think it's bad? Go look at "popular" while you're not logged in (no subs / filters). It's shocking how insipid the experience is.
Just looked. It's basically Trump, Trump, vapid stuff, Trump, vapid stuff, vapid stuff, Trump on repeat
Going to the new section at night really shows how overridden the site is with bots.
Reddits purpose is to create Nazis. You can post anything and use AI bots to do it as long as you push right wing propaganda.
I mean a lot of things happened to Reddit.
The most recent obvious decline was allowing AI moderation. That's when I finally checked out.
Yup. No description other than ‘you violated the rules’ and you’re supposed to guess which rule. It’s like dating a gaslighting sociopath.
Most of reddit is now a gross loop of ChatGPT shitting into its own mouth.
Like well obver 50% of the accounts are not real people anymore, moderation is also now handled by AI.
True but point of OP is that it used to be liberal echo chamber but that has now changed.
Clearly Elon wants it a different way so you post anything you like as long as it fits Elon's desired narrative.
It didn't start as an echo chamber. Initially it was one of the few places online a progressive minded person could go and feel like they could express their opinions openly. And by "progressive" I mean both left and right leaning ideologies.
Which, funny enough is now a foreign concept. We call everyone on the left "progressive", even though Biden and Kamala are clearly conservative Democrats. And we call Vance a "conservative" even though he's clearly a progressive Republican.
there was an article a while back, said 50% were bots anyways, while i was on reddit, it got noticibally quiet when reddit decided to do one of these purges.
Left about 3 months ago, has not been missed.
Reddit is fucking dead. It's like 40% Russian psyops trolls, 25% bots, 25% Nazi trolls, 5% users, and 5% admins looking for shit to ban people for
Remember back in 2022 when Russia disconnected from the global Internet? Reddit was great that day. The amount of trolls and devisive posts plummeted and discussions were much more civil. That was when I first started thinking about looking for a different place to hang out (I had been a pretty prolific reddit commenter). Then the stuff in spring 2023 happened and I found my way here, leaving Reddit for good. No regrets for sure.
Oh that was a golden day indeed. You were able to have a civil discussion with someone who disagreed with you and both of you had a pretty good time. Not only on Reddit but also on fucking YouTube!
Shows you how much Russia turnes anything it touches into pure shit.
I canceled my reddit premium account a few months ago. I was shocked at how numerous and annoying the ads are.
People use the internet without ad blockers??
People paid for premium??
You might be the first guy I've heard who paid for premium
I got an account ban for stating how terrorists deserve to die, which I guess is a controversial opinion now. Bunch of pussies in charge of the place now.
Its been downhill for a while but seems to have picked up speed in the last 6 months or do. Hmm. Wonder why that is.
I got a 3 day site wide ban for saying that without due process, these ICE guys are just racking up hundreds of kidnapping and trafficking charges in a sane world. The ban said I was threatening violence. I'm done with Reddit.
Reddit got threatened by a billionaire Nazi. Reddit caved to said billionaire Nazi.
I had a 13 year old account I simply stopped using in 2023 when compact.reddit.com was killed and the API changes fees were introduced. Lemmy was "good enough" get to get what I was getting from reddit. I stopped using reddit and haven't posted since.
They want to be "Corporate Friendly."
Criticize corporations, or Musk and Trump for a week, enjoy your permanent ban.
We'll be here for you.
I'd say the most recent major influences were the IPO and the emergence of LLMs.
Reddit becoming a publicly traded company and the preparation to do so certainly initiated a major shift in its priorities.
Ai and large language models make it easier than ever to create shiny, but low quality content.
And the rest is just reddit becoming more mainstream leading to an overall shift towards banal rather than niche topics.
Loads of old accounts are now just getting perma banned site wide.
I had an accot that hadn't been used for commenting (just the every now and then looking for something) that got perma banned about a month ago. Reason? None given.
I'm guessing they want to rid the site of users that still remember how great it once was
Got banned for saying that "Israeli people should be upset enough with Netanyahu to have his head on a pike" for "advocating violence". Even non-native English speakers are familiar with this expression which does not literally mean heads on pikes unless you somehow travel back in time to medieval Europe.
I've been on reddit since it's inception and while I didn't go there that often now that Lemmy exists the ban kinda seals the Reddit brand for me.
Another turning point was the April fools mini game this year which was universally hated. This has never happened on Reddit before. I think Reddit is beyond redemption at this point unfortunately and Reddit itself thinks that so they'll get their bags while they can.
I got permabanned just for participating in /r/enoughmuskspam. We figured out Musk frequented the sub, and as an active member who mocked him daily, I had a feeling it was coming. I'm fairly sure he flagged me and other users for permabans.
Their excuse was that I said (((Soros))) to a Nazi MAGA claiming Soros was funding all the protests, which wasn't at all true. Why is that a bannable offense? Never seen censorship like that on the net in my life
My suspicion is that it's happening a lot and that they want to turn Reddit red like they did with Twitter. Musk and Reddit's CEO are pals.
