Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

Eurogamer spotted the tidbits in CI Games' latest financial report, where the publisher revealed Lords of the Fallen 2 (for lack of an official name) will have a "more commercial" art style and narrative, suggesting it wants the game to have more mainstream appeal.

CI Games also promised gameplay improvements, more game mode options, and full "shared-progression" co-op alongside the "core" single-player campaign, all developed with "elevated production values" fueled by Unreal Engine 5.

The publisher confirmed it had received a "major investment" from Epic Games for PC exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, which means Lords of the Fallen 2 will not initially launch on Steam.

It's nice that they give the franchise another chance after the disaster of a launch the previous entry had. I really enjoyed it post-launch when most issues were fixed.

However, looking to "appeal to the mainstream" sounds like it might backfire and become a game for nobody. I'm cautiously optimistic for now.

Also, it's Epic exclusive so they can wake me up once it hits Steam or GOG for half the price.

Yea kind of a nothing-statement, I agree

Not exactly "new" news, but I thought I'd share nonetheless given LotF's recent 2.0 update. Will any of you be checking this out?

Once they fix the co-op issues I will, it looks interesting.
