I dont see a sex scene being needed.

What does a sex scene add to the story that can't be conveyed other ways?

It's not just a sex scene, the headline is misleading. They've totally cut out the relationship, this is straight-washing.

They're literally showing what looks like a blossoming relationship, including her ex being "ok" with it... They had the homophobe get called out and attacked for not being accepting of it... I don't get how this is "Straight-washing" here. I agree there's no need for a sex scene. Isn't the romantic/love aspect what matters?

Depends on the intent. If the series portraits mostly faithfully the game story but then decided to omit this part from it, than it looks like straight washing to keep a low Parental Rating and avoid backlash from homophobes.

Did you read the article? It genuinely did add to it in that it provided a level of normalcy and calm to an otherwise violent story and showed their chemistry/connection.

And I say again, that can easily be done without a sex scene.

Sure, it can. But honestly there isn't enough queer sex in things, especially not wlw/nonbinary scenes ioo. The first season had gay men and sex between them was fine, why not between two characters who are women?

And that wasn't even in the game. Whole episode made up for the show.

Great episode.

Yeah. Completely agreed!

All depends on the reason why IMO. ~~If the actors were for whatever reason not comfortable doing that scene, that's fine.~~ Edit: sounds like at least one of the two actors was okay with a sex scene, reading the article is sometimes important 🤪

If the reason is just american puritanism and/or the producers playing it safe, that's some bullshit.

Why does it have to unfold like the game? Just let the show play out and if you don't like. Don't watch it. Wtf is wrong with people, WHO THE FUCK CARES.

If you've played the games, you know what eventually happens. Why do I need them getting down on the show? I can find that elsewhere to be honest.

I listened to all he Jack Reacher books, I'm glad the TV show isn't following them exactly. The books are cheese, the TV show is cheese, I like cheese.

FTA:

“To all the folks disappointed about Ellie and Dina not together in the grow house, I will remind you that sometimes things get shuffled for TV, and also Ellie took a HUGE bag of weed with her,” wrote one viewer.

The Last of Us S02E02 spoiler

The Last of Us showrunners have since suggested that they wanted Joel’s murder to occur early on in the season as they didn’t want it to drag out for fans of the video games who already knew what was to come.

It seems early to judge and get angry about this, being only 2 episodes into the season. None of the events in the show would prevent the scene from happening. Sounds like people are just upset it's not happening when they thought it would happen.
