It this the same company that complained about bad financial situation and threatened layoffs just a few months before?
Yes and the same one leaking a massive geolocation database of its smart cars fleet.
And the one that manipulated their data on emissions
They weren't even in a bad financial situation, their profits were a little lower.
Iโm happy that theyโre doing well but Iโm sad America will never get the electric GTI now.
This is worse than the chicken tax.

Maybe people in Western Europe started buying Europeen cars instead of Chinese or American ones. But they unfortunatly don't explain the reason in the article.
Nobody in Europe buys American cars (except those that buy Tesla). Some American companies make European cars (e.g. Ford) or American conglomerates have European companies they've bought (e.g. Fiat). All of those would be made in Europe with European workers though.
Donโt know about that. In Slovakia they fired 1000 people.
I bet they're making the ones who are left work longer shifts, or they hired badly paid "contractors" who they can ditch at will.
