A fish without a bicycle won’t do well in a triathlon

As in, they'll have to take the bus instead?

You know, a town with money is a little like a mule with a spinning wheel.

Google for fish on a bicycle, it is beautiful. Once I will have that tattooed.

I remember when Bono threw this into the lyrics for "Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World", like he had thought of it himself (he didn't - this was already an expression by 1991). That was when U2 jumped the shark for me.

A man without faith is like a fish without a bicycle.
Charles Harris. 1958

Earliest usage I could find.

Damn, even the phrase Bono stole was stolen.

Technically true.

Yes, women need men. Who is primarily fighting in Ukraine? Who was forced to stay and who was allowed to leave? Answer: The men had to stay to fight while women and children were allowed to evacuate the country.

Defense is just one example of what men do for women.

You don't need no man until you do.

Don't be toxic, be grateful.

War inflicted by other men?

Btw. I am male too. 🌝

There are always going to be bad men trying to commit aggression, so one should be grateful that there are other men who counter that.

If you want to turn this into a man-problem, then why stop there? You might as well turn this into a human-problem. Turning this into a gender issue rather than focusing on the bad people specifically, is an arbitrary (and toxic) way of framing the issue.

Some women stay and fight. If there were no men, then more women would stay and fight. Your argument is really holds no water.

"Women need men, because a lot of men are terrible people."

[–] vegantomato@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That's primarily the responsibility of men. Even if some women are involved.
