I can't see any other use for the money that was spent on this - we can all come together in harmony and peace now that women have finally flown into low earth orbit. /s

[–] Bumblefumble@lemm.ee 40 points 1 year ago

I just wanna point out that they never went into LEO, not even close. This was a suborbital flight.

They have attained the idealized body weight in America: zero

[–] SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 year ago

So we need to eat the rich is what you said.

I’m on board.

Don’t correct me. I’m not listening anymore.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 48 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’d rather she release some space meme instagram thread than inflict another album on the earthbound.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

She's got a new tour and album queued up. 2025 just keeps delivering the nutshots

[–] _____@lemm.ee 46 points 1 year ago

That's a Mr Beast smile

[–] witty_username@feddit.nl 36 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I don't get it. There is someone holding a flower looking weirdly intense. In a flight suit?

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 74 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Katy Perry on a recent space-tourism flight with Jeff Bezos' space company, Blue Origin

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 99 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Don't you get it? She is a pioneer for going to space for ten seconds as a woman.

Disclaimer: Women might or might not have been into space before. No way to tell.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 93 points 1 year ago (3 children)

You could easily look that info up on the NASA websi... oh, it's gone.

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thankfully the first woman in space wasn't in NASA, so that info is still up where it belongs

The tv series 'for all mankind' started out so interesting with such a good premise, what if the russians landed on the moon first, and what if they landed a woman on the moon first, and then just spirals into NASA bullshit propaganda apologia. It was so dusappointing. Just a tangent but its what your comment brought to mind.

[–] Gowron_Howard@lemm.ee 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

She’s really looking for any possibility to stay relevant.

[–] witty_username@feddit.nl 25 points 1 year ago

Lol, had totally forgotten she existed. Thought the picture was of an influencer or something. Ugh whatever, same difference

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

PS my guess about the intense look is because she is experiencing "zero-G", which allegedly feels identical to a free fall drop or that moment you crest a hill at speed and your stomach feels funny. I would probably be very uncomfortable and would struggle to appear serene or at peace while my stomach is floating inside my body

Eat the rich

[–] Bristingr@lemm.ee 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If everyone just ignored them, then their attention-seeking stunts would be meaningless.

IN ROD WE TRUST

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Future "tourism" flights above the Kharman line should be filled with fireworks that are set off at apogee. (Inside the cabin) edit 2: (and also inside the LOX tanks)

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I want to snap those ugly nails off, god.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pull them off with a pair of pliers

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I just don't get nail fashion for the last 10-15 years. Fake nails just look SO OBVIOUSLY FAKE and inhuman and thick and nasty like they have some kind of fungus. It's just so ugly, god. I hate it. They just sit on top of the finger like some slug.

Nah, when my woman has long, natural nails, well kept nails, nicely shaped, with a little bit of dark red nail polish or just clear polish, and you can tell the nails are natural and thin like a human and not a bird's talon, ...

... I'm in love. Love me some natural. Heck, skip the polish if you like. And they don't even need to be too long. I don't mind a lady that does some manual work.

Just fuck right the heck off with these fake ass tiny diving boards people plaster onto the edges of their hands.

A few years ago, i had to answer the question "how do you wipe?!" A quick YouTube search later, I'm cackling at what can only be described as a ShitMitt.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

No way dude, is that a thing? wtaf

It has Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad vibes to me

[–] ReiRose@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes!!! Actually! Even more so than galgadot imagine. It was all marketing 🤮

[–] nmhforlife@lemmy.world -4 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I don’t actually mind her leading with positivity. Is it superficial? Sure. But I’m okay with the good vibes.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 51 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I do. Toxic positivity is just about as bad as being an outright asshole in my opinion.

I get that nobody likes to cope with negative emotions, negative things happening in reality, or possible negative outcomes from our actions (or inaction) but these things are a part of life and can serve as a reinforcement mechanism to help us fix things.

Toxicly positive people keep insisting that everything is going to work out fine and sing a little song while the ship sinks. I'd rather be on board with folks that understand negative outcomes are possible or even likely, if in fact they are.

The heart hands bullshit of toxic positivity is terrible in good times and nearly intolerable when everything is in crisis.

Anything to pretend like the world's not burning around us, amiright?

[–] zloubida@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

This positivity produced 15 tons of CO2. 10 seconds at the price of 4 years of normal life on earth. Just for Instagram photos.
