Sure, but I'd say "it's like [game name]" or "similar to" or "[game name]-style", not "it's a [game name]".

Like, we literally have well-established genres called Metroidvania and Rogue-like

"Metroidvania" and "Rogue-like" aren't names of existing games, though, they're genre names. The games themselves were called (Super) Metroid, Castlevania and Rogue. It's about grammar, word definitions and style, not about comparing games to other games.
