Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Anybody paying attention to how weird GOP media has been becoming for over a decade has been speculating in this direction. It's good that the DOJ has finally done something. And lol, tenet media has folded.

This story was in The New York Times. During 2016 election The New York Times published thousands of stories about Clinton email/Benghazi, not one on Trumps lifelong ties to NY/Russian mob. As if The New York Times wasn't in a particularly knowledgeable position to report on 70 years of NYC construction & mob history. All the money in my pocket says The Paper of Record has been taking Russian money for decades.

New York Times front page, three days before the 2016 election:

Investigating Donald Trump, F.B.I. Sees No Clear Link to Russia

FUCK YOU NEW YORK TIMES

Yup! Remember Romney saying that Russia was our geopolitical enemy and Obama being the one who called that ridiculous? Ever since then the Republicans have had an absurd love affair with Putin.

[–] osaerisxero@kbin.melroy.org 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

To be fair, there was an honest gambit there with Our Pal Russia, the same one that was tried with China. It didn't work but it seemed like a fair thing to try, especially considering the economic constraints of the alternative.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 23 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Oh yeah, at the time Obama was right to try to repair relations with Russia. They’ve simply grown worse as they figured out how to poke at the world via information warfare.

"Secretly"

This is the dead giveaway that NYT does not give a SHIT about all the fucked up pro-Trump shit they've pulled. Not even a little.

This is why I have zero problems when conservatives want to shit on it. "Yeah!" I say. Even though yeah usually they have something good there. Liberal media - yeah right. Fuck.

Tucker reports his shock at the current turn of events from his summer home in St. Petersburg Florida. 😉😉

[–] p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world 63 points 2 years ago

"Secretly" lmao

Come on now. Worst kept secret in politics.

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 46 points 2 years ago
[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 39 points 2 years ago

Secretly?! 🤣👌🏼

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 37 points 2 years ago

Worst kept secret ever.

[–] Navarian@lemm.ee 34 points 2 years ago

Secretly?

Shit, I'm from the UK and I don't know a single person here that doesn't already know that the Conservatives in the US are infested with russian mouth pieces.

Horribly kept secret if you can even call it one.

[–] DudeImMacGyver@sh.itjust.works 33 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This seems like kind of a poorly kept secret...

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Weren't they bragging about it back when Trump was in office?

[–] DudeImMacGyver@sh.itjust.works 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yep, it went from "Better Dead Than Red" in the late 20th century to "I'd rather be Russian than be a democrat" on actual t-shirts.

Companies should be dissolved. Men should go to prison. This is tantamount to treason

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

I think we should imprison the women involved as well

‘an American media company’

Fucking who? Why this protection through obfuscation. Ugh

[–] A7thStone@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They do in the article. It's Tenet, Dave Rubin, Dim Fool, and a third person are also named.

[–] b3an@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

I’m just frustrated they use this technique to drag people into the article. Maybe I just wanna see the company and if I’d heard of it before.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago

It's in the indictment: Tenet Media

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

The consensus (in most press) is that it's Tim Poole's company.

He's even made a statement about it. So it seems like a solid guess.

"secretly worms" is a pretty good way to describe Tucker Carlson, actually

Secretly my ass. Anyone with a brain can see the same thing happening on Facebook, popular podcasts, and YouTube as what we see Lemmy from HB and ml.

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 26 points 2 years ago

It’s not a fucking secret. Russia has been fucking with America for like 70 years.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago

This reads like a Baptist minister discovering a boyfriend his daughter's room, and then losing his shit like the boyfriend hadn't been invited in. "How could you dupe my sweet, innocent political party with your seductive money and influence!"

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 25 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Hot off the derp files.

No shit.

Fox News— Tucker Carlson, Shawn Hannity, Stepford Nazi edition wife Laura Ingraham and now Jesse Watters have been in the bag forever.

Rupert Murdoch has been licking Pootie’s sack and trying to bring down democracy.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"worms it's way into"? Boy, you're late, that worming has been done ages ago. It laid its eggs, and they did hatch already.

In case you missed the little summary above: Benny Johnson, Tim Pool and Dave Rubin are the big ones.

And if you've never heard of them, your average Trump voter has.

I would be surprised if there weren’t well placed Russian influence in most conservative media in the United States.

[–] jas0n@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Bingo. People keep saying how obvious because views aligned 100% with Russia (which, randomly, is like lottery odds). I have conservative friends who believe all that shit and they don't follow any of these clowns. The amount of times they've regurgitated Russian propaganda to me verbatim is hard to comprehend, and I've been shouting this from the rooftops for the better part of 2 years. It was just so damn obvious. People who have never given a thought to news outside of the US all the sudden telling me about Nazis in Ukraine was just a little too on the nose.

I'd bet my savings account this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Tim Pool! I once knew a guy who thought everything he said was amazing

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

Tim Pool really recently said that he supports the death penalty for treason...
