Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I'd pick President Camacho over Trump. Easy choice.

He's also stupid but not mean-spirited, and in the end, he listens to the smarter guy.

That’s a real funny way to spell “has a job interview with the administration”

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 55 points 11 months ago (6 children)

The Southern District of New York (SDNY) attorney’s office is the same office that ran investigations into Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and singer R Kelly. The office also recently charged Sean “Diddy” Combs with sex trafficking and other federal offences.

Oh shit, fam. I thought the Trump admin was gonna give him a pass. Maybe not? I mean, I know NY is not Trump. I’m very happy to read this. I don’t think this can be pardoned because it’s a state charge, not a federal charge? Get ‘em!

[–] brysmi@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I don’t think this can be pardoned because it’s a state charge, not a federal charge?

SDNY is Federal.

This investigation will be dropped.

I'm doubt that will be the case for long. Can't have the DoJ doing its job, now.

[–] Damionsipher@lemmy.world 40 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I wonder if murdering him in the street would be considered terrorism by the US Gov't?

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 25 points 11 months ago (2 children)

There are more important things to do with that bullet.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 22 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Good thing bullets aren't prohibitively expensive.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 10 points 11 months ago

Yes but, people willing to do what’s needed are very few

Investigating him for a pardon?

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 32 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I smell an executive order coming in fast to make him hands off to justice and the crimes he’s committed.

Would expect nothing else from this pathetic government.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 13 points 11 months ago (4 children)

No, the way it works is they start an investigation so they can suspend it later. That way if he doesn't do exactly what they want they want they can just re-open the investigation. It's how they handled the Mayor of NYC.

To keep a scumbag loyal you need to keep the threat of jail time hanging over him.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

This is it. This is how mobs operate. A culpable employee is a loyal employee.

As a bonus: his sin isn't even tied to the organization. So blowing him up would be essentially risk free - a quality hire if there ever was one.

Edit: dammit, this is going to really happen, isn't it?

Just toss his ass in prison already. He should spend the rest of his life there, and after he dies in prison they should send his body to Romania to buried in some prison graveyard there, symbolic of how he tried to escape justice there, but that is where his body will rest.
