That was good.

Even though there's no sound except the characters talking, it was still very watchable.

There's a strange foreboding atmosphere around the setting. The weird object hanging over it represents the enigma.

Kowloon City doesn't exist anymore.

For another over-romanticized treatment of the place, see the Hong Kong movie Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In

The art direction was really stylish. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

That was a weird first episode. I'm down for episode 2.

Not really sure how I feel about this one yet. I've heard they rushed through the source material to put the hook in episode one, which I'm glad for because it's definitely the only thing keeping me around for episode two, but the story still felt like it was going very slowly. I'm hoping it ramps up a bit and we get more strange and creepy things and a few more crumbs of clues as to what's really going on, but the slow slice of life stuff doesn't really do it for me. I give the premiere a 3/5 and I'll give it a couple episodes to find its footing.

I hope this is well written and lands at a satisfactory conclusion. Seems like it has a lot of potential. The memory theme is strong, especially with the goldfish. the bit about how that area is supposed to be nostalgic hinting that it could even be staged. Then that brief flash to a ruined version of the tea house. So many hints and hopefully a bit of misdirection.

It's here! I love the manga so seeing it animated is great.

It looks like they're going with scattered approach (episode ended in the same place as volume 1) so I'm a bit worried about what this means for the adaptation as a whole. I hope they'll go back to skipped chapters and just used episode one as a hook.

Other than that it's a pretty promising start. Can't wait for more.

Oh, all the food in this episode made me hungry and there's no Chinese cuisine nearby. Curse you anime food!
