Glad this is leaning more toward ensemble, and I'm really liking the comfy vibe.

I was looking forward to the skip to the modern era, but I guess we're not doing that, lol. It was also very weird that Jinya seemingly implied that his father's abuse toward Suzune was justified and that he was wrong to help her escape? IDK, just kind of strange how hard the show seems to be going on "it's right to hate children who are different, actually".

And what is going on with "full of beans"?? I have never in my life heard this expression and none of my friends recognized it either, but two different anime this season have used it and I'm just really confused. Were they translated by AI and for some reason the model loves this phrase?

There's something so charming and cute about seeing robots go about their jobs long after there's any need for them, so this is starting from a strong place for me. On the other hand though, it felt like we didn't get a lot of substance this episode. It's a little hard to tell if this is a chill and melancholy slice of life type show or if it's building up to something a bit more involved - it'll be easier to tell what kind of show this is when we see how our hotel staff interacts with the aliens. For now, I feel like I can't get a strong read on this show, so I'll give it a 3/5 and give it some more time to show off what it can do.

Doga Kobo's animation and writing is, as always, spot on, but good lord could they pick some stuff to adapt that isn't Like This ever in their lives? I don't have much tolerance for adopted-sibling romance (family is family, blood relation or no), so this was always going to be a no-go for me, but I have a (self-imposed) duty to watch every anime, so here I am. I give the premiere a very mixed 3/5 and wish everyone continuing a happy I-can't-believe-it's-not-incest while I leave and never think about this ever again.

I always mean to stick around farther into the season, but for one reason or another it never seems to work out, lol.

And I'm glad my impatience came in handy! I realized I had a few to send to rikka and considered waiting for a reply each time to make sure I didn't break her, but ultimately decided it was probably fine, and thankfully it was! You've done a great job with her, so thanks for all you do.

It feels like this is aiming for chill and soothing, but it definitely lands in boring for me. We didn't get a lot from our main character this episode, and it seemed like Aizu itself was the star of the show. I'm not sure i see the appeal of watching someone else experience a location, but I guess travel content is enjoyable for some people, so maybe this just isn't made for me. I give the premiere a 2/5.

I really wasn't impressed with this one. The purse mystery felt a little underwhelming because we were given so little information about it, and the ghost mystery was really confusing for me because I saw the second doorway in the hall right away and then was gaslit about it when all the characters said there was only the one doorway. There's not much to the characters so far either. It's possible this will get good, but so far I'm not seeing it. I give the premiere a 2/5.

Are you talking about "Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town?" or a different version of the same story? lol

She teases him in every interaction they have. "Bullying" might be a bit of an overstatement, but she's in the same vein as Nagatoro and Uzaki is what I'm trying to say (and I've often seen people who are horny about that kind of archetype call it bullying).

I have awakened from my slumber to watch more terrible anime! (and good ones too hopefully)

This season seems to be going pretty well so far, with lots of promising new shows. I'm particularly eager to see more from Lazarus, YAIBA, and Gorilla God's Go-to Girl, with a special shout-out to Classic★Stars, an anime I am very much enjoying even though it is trash and I don't think anyone else cares about it.

Speaking of trash, though, here's my garbage pile from the past week:

ETA: i forgor that shoshimin is back this season! I haven't watched it yet because of all the new stuff, but once things calm down I'll be keeping up with that one!

Not sure about this one just yet. I like the idea of short stories about an ensemble cast, but there was just too much focus on Rurika and Murata. It all felt very pandery toward the current trend of waifu-who-bullies-you, which like, that's cool for the people who are into that, but that's not me, lol. The story about the security guards really got me, though, so I can see this ending up being a good time. It really depends on the ratio they settle on as the show goes forward. I give the premiere a mixed 3/5.
