Hey everyone, I just migrated from Reddit so I have a question: who's actually here using this, and where do you cook?

I'm currently at a hospital in the states, and it's the best cooking gig I could have asked for.

Decent pay, consistent schedule, the best benefits ever, (most of us cooks have to cash out PTO because we accumulate so much), and some of the easiest shifts I've worked.

Inbetween jobs at the moment. Previous job burnt me out. Miss most of the peeps I worked with though.

Super same. I miss having a job where I could commit to a full volume Gollum impression for an entire hour and nobody would bat an eye, and the boss would come over and do a better one if he heard you.

I miss the creative violence of language, the impropriety, being among the dirty people who scream in the walk-in. The terrible music, the rough camaraderie, the thrumming full-body sensation of being completely exhausted after a long shift.

I don't think I could do it again, I'm slower than ever and it was always my weak point. But I do miss it. I guess I should answer OP's question: I cook at home, every meal for the family, every day.

Home cook here. Boss is a jerk, pay is non existent, but I have free reign of the menu. Except when the 8 year old decides he hates green beans, or bell peppers, or mushrooms, or bolognese all of a sudden.

I got out before it could kill me. But it's always there, haha.

If I told you about my kitchen, it would no longer be confidential. 😤

I've seen your kitchen before.

It has a knife, spoon, fork, a couple of bowls and at least one plate, a cold box and a food heater thing.

Don't worry about the dead rat, I removed that yesterday.

Working in Europe, small kitchen with just a handful of cooks. It's crazy busy, but we have gotten a union based contract, so that's nice. Wouldn't know what else to do, though I am getting older.
