Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Maybe they should have listened to the nonsense he was spewing on the campaign trail every night.

[–] dustyData@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago

They were too busy signing checks to his campaign to get him elected.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 6 points 11 months ago

"He was just being hyperbolic." they told themselves.

Nope, turns out he was "saying it like it is" about what he was going to do and the "I don't care about you" was the truth.

[–] sexy_peach@feddit.org 4 points 11 months ago

Like someone said they thought he was only going to lower taxes.

[–] RagingSnarkasm@lemmy.world 34 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This is what you paid for, now shut up and eat your shit sandwich.

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 25 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How could he do the thing he said he was gonna do? who could have possibly seen this coming?

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They aren’t promoting their best people.

[–] SolacefromSilence@fedia.io 4 points 11 months ago

No 4d chess needed, this is their best.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This is what the corporate world voted for. You expected massive tax cuts, no regulations and free labor. Instead the republicans are going to bankrupt your business, investments, savings and social safety net. You knew he was crazy when you supported him. You deserve this pain.

[–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Yeah you can see this by the stock market bump from his election to his inauguration that investors largely believed it would be a good thing, and then he actually became president and started doing stuff and it immediately went back to normal, and now he's just destroying the entire economy doing shit he said he was going to do and business people are all surprised Pikachu about it. No sympathy for them. The only people in America who deserve any sympathy are the ~1/3 of the American people who did literally anything to try to prevent this. Fuck the 1/3 who voted for Trump and fuck the 1/3 that became politically disengaged enough to not do anything even more. This is a corrupt and vile country and we deserve everything we're getting.

[–] Rooskie91@discuss.online 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Didn't they want this? Haven't they been trying to install a fascist dictatorship for literal decades? Did they forget that fascism is bad and nobody likes it?

The WW2 generation died and immediately everyone is like, "Hey, why didn't we like fascism again?"

Dear CEOs: devour feculence.

[–] molten@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

Oh no did your stupid business degree not prepare you for the real world?

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Not alot feels real these days man

[–] boolean_sledgehammer@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

Trump has been nothing other than exactly who he has portrayed himself as during the entirety of his political career.

It's why I don't buy the "we were fooled" narrative. If you were fooled, you are either catastrophically stupid or you just don't pay attention. Probably both.

He has spent an entire campaign talking very proudly about all the stupid shit he was going to do. If you somehow thought he was still playing an elaborate strategy, l don't even know where to start with you.

[–] Stanley_Pain@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 11 months ago

Would somebody think of the poor CEOs. From my perspective, they're all doubling down on Trump's bullshit as is...

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Part of me wants it all to burn to the fucking ground. Maybe something better comes out of the ashes.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Failed states rarely recover.

[–] AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Won't the failed states mostly be red?

[–] Mearuu@kbin.melroy.org 5 points 11 months ago

In this context states mean countries or nations.

[–] photonic_sorcerer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

History tells us this ends badly.

[–] sexy_peach@feddit.org 2 points 11 months ago

Not with a population that in big parts likes how it is now.

It only works if there is a coherent wish amongst the people. Like more bread or whatnot.

[–] andallthat@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The article is not offering any real examples, except for one CEO's reaction to their stock drop in real-time during an investor's call.

Now don't get me wrong. I really want this to be happening for real. It's just that I would like to see more actual examples and less descriptions of hypothetical "CEOs with thousand-yard stares".

[–] deadfatquarterzip@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

I think in general ceo's try to limit their exposure to the public, makes it easier to control situations. Elon found out what happens when you don't. So I'm not surprised by this. I 100% believe there's tons of them who are shitting their pants right now. As they should. This is almost making ME want to cry, seeing the future look more and more like, idk, death stranding world

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I could've sworn that headline was satire.

Wow they must really be struggling... give me a fucking break
