Didn't that dude doing the blackhole research end up getting pilloried for wearing a shirt his sister gifted him ?

Context it was aheago (I might have spelled that wrong, at work and can't check) anime fabric, which might be questionable in a professional work environment.

It was distasteful but he didn't deserve what he got. Disgusting how he was treated imo.

What did he get? I was watching the event live at the time and I'm familiar with the immediate aftermath where he apologized and it was largely accpeted. Did he get fired or something?

He got publicly humiliated and force to apologise. A man working for nasa pushing the boundaries of human knowledge forced to humble himself before a bunch of keyboard warrior puritans.

He was on TV representing NASA in a graphic and lewd shirt. What are you talking about, are you saying that should be acceptable attire? It's not puritan to hold him to a higher standard because he works for NASA.

As far as I'm concerned it's between him and his manager.

Once you go on TV it's a public affair, believing anything else is incredibly naive.

[–] jonathan@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

Bro did you see the shirt?

I didn't know scientists would put you in a stockade.
