True as fuck. A few days ago I was walking to my mother to tell her something, but halfway through going down the stairs I completely forgot and told her "hold on lemme go back upstairs to remember what I was gonna say". I then recalled that I wanted to tell her I ate an amazing chicken burger when I was out that day.
Obviously I can’t remember where, but I recall reading that walking through perceived thresholds can act sort of like clearing your brains “cache”, which is why we often forget what we went into a room for.
It’s called the doorway effect or location update effect :)
this reminds me of having to scroll back on a weboage because you had a random unrelated thought you forgot, so you scroll until you find the spark.
i remember figuring this out when i was like 6, playing games on my pc. I had a thought, promptly forgot it, then i just figured i'd go repeat what i was doing to recall, i felt like a genius
