Wait, the anger is a thing related to adhd?

I always felt like somewhat of a nutcase for getting pissed off at stuff not working/going my way (shout at the pc until you figure out how to get the driver working again).

Jogging/biking: get pissed, the burning anger gets you through.

In an odd way anger manages to focus me but it’s just not a healthy way to live :/

Edit/Disclaimer: I never said I shout at people.

emotional dysregulation is a common symptom of adhd, meaning intensity of (initial) emotional responses can go overboard.

Oh. Well. I just thought I was passionate like the crashing of a thousand waves.

Anger is a natural result of discovering that your natural abilities are routinely exploited and taken for granted but your needs that are a direct result of those same abilities will not be met.

My emotions are very well regulated, thank you. It is normal to feel anger when gaslit into thinking your normal human variation is a disorder.

There's poor emotional regulation but adrenalin is also self-medication. So screaming at other people gets your adrenaline up which helps you focus and feel good. Obviously unhealthy and sucks for everybody around you. Very toxic.

All i read is shouting at people makes me feel good. Gotta go try it out.

Yeah. Do some therapy and you will find out lots of things you "just do" are adaptations to compensate for ADHD. Shifting to healthier ways of doing things can be tough. It's hard to let go of habits that have "worked so far".

I have been frustrated and angry easily for far too much of my life and I brought it up, among other issues to a psychiatrist and he said its also a symptom of bipolar type 2 as well as adhd.

One of the meds I'm on for anxiety (with the hope it'd help the ADHD) gives me symptoms of BPD as as side effect :))

And now my impulse control is literally fucking zero at times

[–] KeenFlame@feddit.nu 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nah. It affects impulse control.

Its good if you don't yell at your computer, healthy if you think that is a bit nuts. It makes people and yourself feel bad.

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Again, I never said I shout at other people.

Why does everyone immediately draw that conclusion? I do that shit in private like any other decent nutcase thank you very much.

Well you kinda imply it by saying it makes people feel bad. Unless you mean people feel bad when they shout themselves. But that feels like a weird way of stating that.

Ok, what did you mean by “ it makes =>people<= and yourself feel bad” then? (You know, clarifying a statement goes a long way…)

[–] KeenFlame@feddit.nu 1 points 1 month ago

When you shout at a computer, several things happen that makes people (including yourself) feel badly: For instance, people that are nearby can get scared and become wary. In addition, screaming can go through several walls or reach anyone passing by outside and they may not assume that you are shouting at a machine which can be very threatening and for certain people. I don't think I need to go on, but I'll add this as it seems it may be of help; your frustration is carried with you if you don't let it out, but a good way to make sure that you carry it around your neck much longer, is to scream and act out on what's nearby. Impulse control is a form of processing even if it feels great to give in to anger. Was definitely not obvious to me at least
